Sorry I need to ask a simple qn cos I didn't attend the talk. So at P2, everything depends on SA2? There's no continuous assessment of any kind in P2?

I think they will breakdown the component, if not the parents will all :faint: -- 100% SA2 is no joke.

We went. In short, based on P4 exam result, students will be banded for all subjects - standard or foundation. School will recommend, parents will make final decision on combination to be taken for P5. After P5 exam, school will base on result and past history keep or modify the students' subject combination for P6.

              Thanks for sharing, JoeeYee. :celebrate:

:? I heard from a churchmate just yesterday, she said it is really 100%SA2 for P2 per what she understood.

As mine was transfered to PH only in Jun P2, all her CA1/SA1 in ex school were totally disregarded, the 100% SA2 was seriously no joke.
I believe this is the same case for some other schools.. the SA2 is supposed to be a placement test, while ranking is definitely involved, it is to group the children according to their abilities... parents are supposed to rely on the assessment tests to gauge the child's progress before P2's sa2..

I tell myself, it's ok... if he is placed within his abilities, it doesn't matter which class he goes to. πŸ˜› with subj banding in place for almost every level n subject, I'm hoping my ds has the chance to learn at a pace he can flourish in..

The way I read JoeeYee's msg, seems that this holistic assessment at P1 is quite subjective in nature. The good news is, it doesn't really matter right since P1 to P2 is enbloc?

Btw, what's this thing called STAR? DS told me yesterday that he was picked to do some STAR stuff but declined. Got marks or not. If got, then I'll have to do some bribing.

FYI. All briefings slides for P1 and P3 will be posted in the child’s lead account.

I thought the one for how to raise a happy child by the school counsellor was interesting.

I believe it's the programme \"I am a STAR\" organised by the EL department for P1s and P2s. They would fill up an application form and the teachers will schedule them. During my dd's time, they were supposed to present a story-telling item or a show-and-tell during recess. It's good to build up their confidence and prepares them for oral Show-and-tell in P2.

Many of my dd's classmates participated in this for the past two years. She did too.
