have they considered running two sessions in the interim period ?
I'd rather they run 2 sessions than to move so far away. -

They should really consider letting the P1 and P2 start their morning later if the temporary site is so far away, otherwise poor kids all have to wake up so early.BigDevil:
Info from P2 Kopi session with Mrs Lee:
School's choice is Canadian International School at Toh Tuck as holding
site during hilltop construction, but this is pending MOE's approval.
Staggering start time will be considered.
Shuttle bus to shuttle the P1s and P2s from NYPS to CIS will also be
considered so that parents do not need to perform 2 drop offs.
CIS' canteen is small...only can fit 2 classes. So maybe engage caterer?
New hilltop will house an after school care (ala Learning Bliss) but it will not be as big as before.
Wah.... Toh Tuck is still kinda far from the current location... Ok, at least they did consider shuttle bus (a great option from the view of parents). But does that mean P1 and P2 will end school early too so can take the shuttle bus back to NYPS and join the school bus home (for those taking school bus)? Hmm... really lots of logistics to consider and coordinate then.
Did she mention about where the Learning Bliss will be during the hilltop construction? Any room for parents' feedback?
Thanks for the info BigDevil!

if as what was posted here by a fellow ksp, that the principal is open to suggestions, then more parents should speak up and request for afternoon session for lower primary classes, than to move to toh tuck[/quote]But we haven't been informed of anything about this plan. If they want to gather feedback, shouldn't they officially announce it and ask for feedback, rather than through word of mouth using a P2 kopi session?Busymom:

Currently, the school starts at 7:30am and ends at 1:30pm...that's 6 hours of classes.
If the school were to run 2 sessions, the am classes will have to knock off early (12:30pm?) so that the pm session can run from 1 to 6.
So is it good idea to have 2 less periods per day? Parents of P5 and P6 students might not like the idea. -
I think there is no way that the school will agree to an afternoon session since there will be around 20 classes involved (around 10 classes each for P1 and P2) and the current school hours is already very ‘stretched’ now.
I feel really sorry for parents with kids who will be 2 different sites next year. -
BigDevil:
Toh Tuck is nearer to my home because I am staying at Hillview. Have to drop my son early in order to be in time for my girl at the King's road campus.
Likewise, DD in P2 now...DS going in 2014.chiclil:
My Daughter is in P3 now and my son will be joining P1 from 2013.
Was patiently waiting for the day that I just have to drop off both at the same place but this has to happen right when my son is joining in 2013.
Ha ha wishful thinking, if they have shuttle service, would they consider the service for both location, parents gets to choose to drop off at King or at Toh Tuck and the kids can shuttle to their campus . dreaming ... .... -
agree that toh tuck is a little far. perhaps the principal would like to ask for alternative suggestions and feedback? personally, i don’t agree for dual sessions. there will be too much disruptions, especially to the P5 P6.

Maybe for the lower primary, the first 2 periods can be for subjects that need not be conducted in classrooms? I guess P5 and P6 need not be affected as there are just 13 classes for each of P1 and P2.Busymom:

Or for the AM session, for 1 day, class ends later but for the rest of the week, class ends 1 period earlier, so free up some classrooms for the P1 and P2 in PM session?
How do schools with 2 sessions cope? -
I personally prefer they have shuttle buses between NYPS and CIS, both in the morning and afternoon. How about afterschool care, enrichment and CCAs? Some P2s already in school teams. The students still have to come back to the main campus rite? I hope the Sch considers all these carefully. I think I would email the P later today about this.
