Yes, my DD1's EL & CL SA1 Compo will be next Thurs & Fri :roll:For EL and CL compo, I told my son he has to inject in dialogue to spice it up...or else it will be too boring...not too much, just insert where necessary.
His SA1 next week, so after the oral today & 2moro, it will be reading up.
For CL Compo, DD1's CL teacher did comment that she has used dialogue in it and it is a good effort
...But I was very disturbed by DD1's tutor comments last Saturday and she not giving me any positive feedback but rather kept telling that how poor my DD1's command of English - tenses mixed up, spelling mistakes, punctuation mistakes, etc etc....So, if my DD1 can be so perfect in her writing then I would not have need to send for enrichment class!

My DD1 P3 compo is a picture-guided one - 4 pictures in all and she has to write out based on the given helping words.
For the model compo book, DD1 reads it like a \"story-book\"
- she will use 2 different highlighter - a yellow one for good vocab/phrase which she copies down into her own note book; another green one is for word(s) that she does not know but the book didn't explain and she will ask me to help her check in the dictionary.
For my DD1 - she belongs to the semi \"auto-pilot\" type which at times she will have the initiave and voluntarily reads the model compo books, do her own assessment books and school homework. But sometimes mummy here has to shout & scream before she will move or she will tell me,\" dear mummy, I have done that lioa; I need a longer break now!\"  -

Hi Champion,
My dd's compowriting is also like what you have discribed. but she is not connecting the story. I saw her compo writing folder that she brought home for rivision. what she have done is one of the paper she tried to write each picture a story, there is no link between them. another one a long story could'n complete on time. I didn expect all these .... :stupid: -

Guess for your DD in P2 - just the start of Compo writing so slowly it will take practices to make the compo story flow :D. At times my gal's compo is \"illiterate\" - like what you say, the story is not flowing - jump here and there but teacher is gracious enough to give her marks and encourage her to write fluently the next time. The latest 2 pieces that she brought back slightly improve and teacher gives the comment,\" improved work; keep going and you shall make it there!\"

Hi Champion,
Although my child tried to copy down interesting phrases, he does not use them effectively. At times, he copied down one whole chunk because it all sound good to him. I now goes through the model compo with him before getting him to attempt one of similar plot. Then I will sit with him to choose which are the good phrases that he will likely be using (for his standard) and copied them down. Very tedious. -

My girl has the \"hobby\" of writing down - even for Science, Chinese - she did that  ..probably she loves to write and prefers to her own little cutie note book.
Girls being girls so guess this is her way of learning bah....she only copies down word(s) or phrase(s) and write a short sentence for it.
Yea, understand that teaching compo is very tedious and really time consuming
. I have outsource that but am not very happy with the Tutor's attitude so am contemplating to change after the SA1 :(....

Hi Champion,
We intend to outsource compo after the painful coaching session over the long weekend. Looking at Jan & Elly or Mindstretcher to see which one fits our schedule. Quite reluctant though because starting next semester, child will need to stay back 3x a week until late afternoon for activities/CCA, and we prefer weekdays for such extra classes. -

We also outsourcing both compo. I do agree writing compo. at home is very tedious and take up more than the require timing and left very little time for other homework. -
I wanna wish all you Mommies all the best with the English compo writing. My DS has no problems with English but all I have to do is to replace English with Chinese and I understand the awful stress and feeling of helplessness. I will go and think through some of the stuff I did to help DS with English compoโฆ and post here.
