      Jennifer:

This year my P4 boy has a very good CL teacher who leaves qns/comments all over the compo. The most recent one was returned and the pupils were to re-write the compo. After taking into account all her qns/comments, my boy attained a 10/15.
That's what I meant by a professional teacher. Her FT is not appreciating the fact that she could be possibly reading the better compositions and yet she didn't acknowledge those efforts.

I seriously wonder how she can possibly read and mark 4 compositions and return by next week with comments and grading? Say, if returned at the last minute, wouldn't that cause unnecessary panic to those who didn't score? Then again, let's say the kids helped to mark but wouldn't that make the scripts look untidy. All their efforts in writing those compos will go down the drain cos nobody likes to study untidy scripts.

Just now i asked my dd about this, she told me that the FT want them know how to check when doing compo. I'm not sure this is good or not. May it is a attempt to let them pay attention to the points of cut-off scores in another way? :?

Lizhi, no matter what, a P3er cannot effectively grade a compo yet. She asked them to check the grammar, spelling and punctuation mistakes. However, sometimes, grammar is not so straightforward when it is used in different sentence structure. My dd told me she was marking a messy piece of her classmate's. I think it defeats the purpose if the child is struggling marking their peers' work. FT is cutting the corners.

If she returned those marked copies with her individual comments and grading, then I have nothing to say. I hope she does. That piece was done quite some time ago. If the kids marked their own compos, we don't need teachers anymore.

Yes, correct. The teacher should mark with teacher's comments finally. But in truth, I have almost given up hope. Because from my dd1, I couldn't find out valuable comments indeed. specially chinese compo, nothing!

Even upper primary may not be suitable to do it, let alone P3 kids. Compo writing is subjective base on individual's expereinces, reading variety and personal ideas. Can't comprehend what is the intent of this CL T ?

                It's EL T.

I doubt their CL T will attempt to do that cos I believe many of them are half-buckets for their CL compo, that includes my dd. ๐Ÿ‘… I think her CL teacher is too kind.

                  Hi Parents,

I called up school to enquire the dates for SA1...now that May 9 is a public holiday.
Someone in general office told me the school premise may be used for some election/polling venue on May 6 (Friday)...and that school may possibly end at 12pm. Anyway, I'm waiting for the circular to be issued as confirmation.

It would be wonderful if the school can be used for Polling Day, then I wouldn't have to go to Greenwich to vote.

Has anyone recd the official letter to do voting? Bn donkey years since I last voted.

                  Haven't checked letter box yet.
However, son came back with letter from school...P3, 4, 5 & 6 (not taking HCL) will be dismissed at 10am on May 6.

CONFIRMED - Pei Hwa is a Polling Station.
So P1 and P2 .. no school :celebrate:
One more day to prepare for exam.

So that means no need to go to Greenwich Sec for Holland-Bukit Timah ?

I presume the polling station is dependent on our address?
