Healthy breakfast for school kids

Yup, my son gags when its too thick, so I've learnt to dilute it with more milk. I sweetened mine with fresh or dried fruits.

Gee, it is \"good\" to know that so many kids here also don't like thick oats! :rotflmao: Yes, I read that you use fresh and dried fruits in your oats! Will see if this works for my boy...

We usually have (sanitarium brand) rolled oats for the entire family, sprinkle with fresh fruits & nuts and a drizzle of extra olive oil just before serving. If you can find steel cut oat, there will be the best as itl provide most vitamins for your loved ones.
Other options include fish porrigde, pork porridge. Western Breakfast will be the usual Bread & Toast but that only comprises 30% of our breakfast menu, cos I understand that eating too much yeast ( used in making bread, cakes etc) is not good for the little ones.
Not sure how true but I have also been advised to consume bread bought from bakery shop (and not those big brands that can keep for a week!), which is supposed to contain less preservatives. -
Yes, I have also been told that the bread from the bakeries has less preservatives as compared the ones sold in the supermarkets… That’s the former gets mouldy within two-three days.
Read the earlier interesting recipes on banana choco bread… Anyone care to share how to get kids to eat bananas?
Thanks. -
i found mini wholemeal pita from cold storage over the weekends, i do hardboiled eggs and mashed it. slit an opening on the pita, like a pocket, put the eggs inside, my DD love it. it’s healthy and yummy. mummy, can try it, easy to make too. the pita just need to toast it, i out on wok (w/o oil) and heat it up both sides (my oven spoilt le , haven got time to buy)…

yes, i found the wholemeal pita from tampines ntuc. but the size is medium, not small one that i found in cold storage. the size is suitable for adult or bigger kids., for my DD it's too much for her. Thanks. -
Happy mama, we count our blessings and one of it is having a good helper who can not only cook but also quick in doing it. I will usually plan the menu the night before and making sure we have a good mix of different kind of breakfast for the week.
