      Hi Brenda10,

Any idea if the above is similar to http://www.victoria.com.sg/index.php/2010-12-15-08-11-20/68 ?
Not sure which to get, or should I get both?
      Hi teh_oh,

      They are different.

As per Champion’s dd teacher quoted, \"需要加入多些成语,俗语或歇后语,让你的文章看起来更有生气!\" which the 1st book can help in this area.

The book that you had mentioned would give us some idea on how to describe the different type of weather, different type of emotional, expression, appearance etc

I would think is good to have both books.

      Just my 2 cents thought

        Hi Champion,

Thanks for recommending that CL book.
Will check it out when I go to Popular again...although I've already used up that voucher.
Those proverbs you mentioned inside are useful :snuggles:
        Hi Janet,
My pleasure; hope you able to find the books you want :dancing: :boogie:

I am looking around too for P1 CL Books for my DD2 going P1 next year. She is the \"Eat potatoes\" type - although she has Chinese enrichment class and is learning HYPY now but her pronoun-cation and writing are..... :slapshead: ...Just yesterday I heard her telling hubby, \"Daddy, jie jie is 大姐so I am 二姐and brother will be 上帝 (shangdi)!\" Actually she wants to say 三弟 (sandi) :rotflmao:

          Hi teh_oh,
I might be dropping at Popular this week - maybe I go browse thru this book and if I get it will share here with you my feel...

          Hi Brenda,
Thanks for the explanation; appreciates much. Yes, I have the Victoria book that teh_oh mentioned and really useful for DD1 as she carries it (small and thin) with her to school :imcool:

            Hi Champion,

I really :salute: you for being so proactive for your daughter's compo.
That Victoria handbook on 好词好句 is a must-have for compo. To have a further boost in the compo, the guide which you mentioned is helpful (if my son is willing to read and remember). So parents, do check out this book for 成语,俗语或歇后语.
Your son's use of 上帝 during P6 oral will make the examiner laugh till she drop off the chair :rotflmao:

What Janet mentioned is absolute right. In upper priamary, if you want to score CL compo. mark for more than 35, you have to be well verse of those 成语,俗语或歇后语.

                Hi Brenda,

Do you have a younger child in primary school?
With son in P5, I've neglected my P1 gal...forgetting to coach her for 听写 for eg. Dare not imagine next year when son is in P6.
Prob is her school 听写 is not easy and ironically she is not in SAP school. On top of testing hanyu pinyin, she is tested on characters in 识写字 as well and how to use them. For eg, 苹果是_____。Choose the correct answer from helping words. :siao:
Sorry for the ranting, but I am torn between 2.

                  Hi Janet

                  DD is the only child.

I can understand your difficulties as handling of 听写 is really time consuming and tiring.

I let go of the 听写 when dd was on P3 since the school would not take in 听写 as part of the CA1 or SA1 marks.

Perhaps you want to consider to get her some CL cartoon show with CL subtitle only during this period and June holiday as I believe it will help your dd improve on word recognizing, listening and communication skill. In the long run this helps her to improve in the CL language and can also lighten your burden.

                  Just my 2 cents thought.

                    Hi Brenda,
Initially I also think,\"Hey, maybe need not concentrate so much on the 听写 since marks not taken into the CAs or SAs  ....But besides 听写, the CL teacher made them write the 听写 & or 默写 words as 习字! Guess this is the way her CL teacher made them study for it! And before the SA1, they are supposed to write ALL the 生字 for Book 3A! 😓 She was grumbling and complaining and frowning but still manage to finish all and submit. :dancing:

Thanks. Wanted to go popular today to use my 20% voucher, but have to control myself from stepping out of the house as I need to look through child's paper to see which parts he is really weak in. Hope he is able to bring home all the papers today.
