For those who have been there, please advise on the must-visit places? -

Just back from Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast when the tsunami strike Japan. It was not affected in anyway. Not exactly that there are must visit places, but some of the places of interest would be Sea World, Warners Bros, Country Paradise (small attraction with kangaroos and koalas and farm shows), further away will be near Brisbane called Koala Sanctuary. Apart from that, spend lazy days at the beach etc. U doing self drive?Hi,

Going by package tour cos first time going to Australia...[/quote]You must opt for an extra day F&E to do some self-driving or just to laze at the beach... very easy to get around and fun to explore. You must go to the beach! DS had the most fun at the beach (free) instead of the theme parks. If you like casinos, there's also the Conrad Jupiters Casino. Free shuttle bus from the city central. Nice and inexpensive hotel would be the Courtyard Marriott. If you want something better, go for JW Marriott or even the Palazzo Versace.
Slap on lots of sunscreen... the UV rays are very very powerful -
I am planning to take the kids ( age 8 & 6 ) to Gold Coast at the last week of June,
Do we need to bring sweaters along ?
Also, any direct flight to reach Gold Coast? -
most convenient flight is probably SQ’s flight to Brisbane. Qantas does the same. And do a transfer
Jetstar does Gold Coast (airport code ‘OOL’) but with a stop over in Perth or Melbourne… -
Hi sorry how do I transfer from there? Take
taxi?is it safe? -

should be safe.
google around for more options -
Hi chixchix, you can hire a car from brisbane to gold coast. It takes about an hour. The drive was hassle free for me as most part was on the freeway.
Sweaters and windbreakers are required during the month of June.

Best way to get to Gold Coast is to fly into Brisbane then drive down to Gold Coast. The drive is easy, especially with GPS gadgets available in the rental cars.
