any hand cream to recommend?

hi all,

my right palm got two very ‘hard dry-up blister-like’ and got ‘broken holes’…
could be long term usage of washing liquids thus become like that.
tried lots of hand cream but still not much improvement…
any recommendations for hand cream? many tx.

pink daisy! you are like me! I got the above happening about 6 months - 1 year after my DD was born. Not sure if its hormonal. Tried gloves and the detergent ( i was using mama lemon, which i have use for > 20 yrs w/o problem) still seep in abit from the end of the glove (and very troublesome too). Also started getting dry hands after washing my hands with soup supplied at office toilet (less moisturising quality?)

I tried many creams too. The one that work slightly (still not good enough though) better is a MLM product called Renew.

And then another colleague selling MLM introduce me to a Amway product for washing dishes. Its green in colour, to be diluted, and it works for me! No worse blisters and holes in the hands and no more pain while washing with tap water (cos of all the open wounds).

Hope my post will not be deleted and you will get to read it (and anyone else that got this problem) because it took me 3 years! before I found this solution!

BUt got to warn you, cos its not so strong, you will have problem washing oily dishes (my hubby complain alot)

Hmm, seems to me like although MLM products are quite expensive, they do have some very good products.

Maybe cracked heel cream can help? the most potent one i’ve tried is Du’it…a European brand…

I also developed contact dermatitis, it gets really painful. After trying many brands, from normal, to cosmetic lines to natural to MLM, I now go with Physiogel CREAM (not the lotion), you can buy from any Guardian. It is a pharmaceutical brand for eczema and sensitive skin, with skin repairing lipids. It is more expensive than QV or Cetaphil, but unlike most pharmacy products, it is preservative-, fragrance-, colorant- free. Unlike other natural organic brands, it has engineered lipids that brings instant relief and is non-oily (or maybe because my skin is so dry and cracked). But the most important thing is still a pair of gloves, and consistency in applying the hand cream.

besides using hand cream, dont wash your hands immediately after you apply face cream in the morning and at night. the cream on your hands are equally good in moisturizing your skin.

Yes it might be because of too much washing. The washing solution is quite strong for your skin and may dry it up. you can try vaseline. It will work!

The Body Shop HEMP Hand Protector works very well for me. I bought mine in Australia, not sure if it’s available locally.

If it is not very severe, try rubbing baby oil - cheap and good. Most important thing is to apply some form of cream after each hand wash.
