oh, what I mean is the result comparing P4 (last year) and P5 (this year) for my child? I know everyone been saying the standard for P5 is going towards to P6 but …

also I had not heard of the canning failing HCL or anyone been withdrawn? Sounds scary…

Erm buds, think Funx3 was being sarcastic here.

Due to historical reasons, Sci is not exactly the fav subject of many parents here.

Why leh, you may ask? Well, it's a long story so this one must get janet_lee88 to come tell you.

For a moment I thought that the caning was done by HOD. :yikes:

Then I realised my folly; it has to be done by parents rite?

Anyway corporal punishment due to poor results is so wrong ..... should just starve the failee ..... :rotflmao: :siam:

According to Funx computation, am I right to say that we can even calculate their level position by taking the average ranking of all the subjects πŸ˜†

Not really, because kids perform differently in subjects.

somehow i feel that the average percentile of the 4 subjects is indicative of the child's level percentile. perhaps some expert in statistics can advise?

                aiyo...what so scary?....only 2 tests per subject....
10 marks each for English and Chinese
15 marks and 30 marks for Maths test....

no class position, no standard position, no avg or mean marks....so what so scary????

the rest of the info is not important....

Scary because I didn't expect any report books at all, until I read Mrsbongz post earlier today that is. I thought no CA/SA meant no report book.

Second thing is that I've no indication at all how ds will fare in those continuous assessment tests. He never tells me anything in this aspect and I also never ask.

The scary part is when the data is given.
Personally I think new system will be more stressful than previously for some parents, but it also help parents to focus on the weaker subjects.
Previously class ranking only ...give a more balance view in their general perform. With subject percentile, like Funx3 said, you will know the subject ranking school wide. So 4x more stress.[/quote]that's true. for eg, last yr p1 the CL average was 94%. so if the child gets 94%, the parent may feel happy, until the parent sees that the child's percentile is only between 40% to 60%!!

                  GyGy:

Does anyone know the average marks for all subjects for this year P2? This year don't have the slip that they gave last year.

It is in the report book, but only the average for SA1 not the combined result.

                  Average SA1
                  EL - 83.2
                  CL - 80.2
                  MA - 76.7

but they don't give the class average in P2. in P4, class average is still given.
