[quote]β€Ž\"If the annual salary of the Minister of Information, Communication and Arts is only $500,000, it may pose some problems when he discuss policies with media CEOs who earn millions of dollars because they need not listen to the minister's ideas and proposals, hence a reasonable payout will help to maintain abit of dignity.\"

It is either I am thinking \"out-of-the-box\" or I am terribly ignorant. You mean got Media CEOs in Singapore earning so much money meh? Isn't the media all controlled by the garmen? So whatever CEOs got to kwai kwai listen to garmen policy no? Or you mean other country's media CEOs? Don't toe the line just cut cut circulation and broadcast.

Very simple. Very cost efficient. No need to pay so much for a minister to be effective since power is in his hand.

On second thoughts, just imagine Mr Obama suggest his salary to be pegged to the Top 8 private sector earners in the U.S. I can only quote the two I know best: Mr Bills Gates and Mr Warren Buffet. WAH, HUAT AH!!!!! I bet you they won't want to be pegged to Citibank CEO whom during the financial crisis, volunteered to take just USD1 per annum. Pick and choose your own cherries, how to go wrong liddat?

Imagine he quote:\" If I don't earn more than them, nobody will listen to me!\".

          Heh...heh....!

His mother was named and quoted in this ST article written before he was introduced as a PAP candidate http://www.straitstimes.com/GeneralElection/News/Story/STIStory_642320.html. It is not the woman identified in the earlier article.

Thank you, MummyThreeStreams. That should help quell this rumour.

Thank you, MummyThreeStreams. It's good to know that the rumour is not true.

does it mean then the minister's pay should be pegged to the industry leaders they are talking to? then Finance Minister best (talk to bankers mah); Foreign Minister can eat grass (becos other foreign leaders earning much less). :spank:

PM and his minsters' pay should now be pegged to the richest in the world, else who would want to listen to Singapore....imagine you go to attend meeting at the UN, nobody going to 'hew' you....lidat cannot lar, no dignity. Thanks to Lim Wee Kiat for the reminder. He can go repent forever
