When I only had one child, he didn’t get sick much. With two kids, the frequency of illness went up. now with three, it’s gone crazy. My kids have been taking turns to fall ill. The older ones keep bringing bugs back from school and passing it round to everyone in the family, including me and DH. The older ones don’t get very sick, just mild sniffles and coughs, but the baby gets it quite bad. I haven’t had all three kids healthy in the last two months. I wish I could break this cycle of illness, but it’s impossible to isolate the kids from each other. I get them to wash hands frequently, and the two older ones take vit and fish oil to boost their immunity.

My friend with three kids also experienced this. And i am told it’s part and parcel of having three kids. How about you guys? How do you deal with it?

My older kids are in CC but seldom bring home virus from school. I give them probiotics to boost their immunity. The youngest one usually takes longer to recover when he falls sick (maybe still young and hence lower immunity). But my kids are very much like me, they have more stomach related problems than common cough and flu.

As much as possible, if the older ones are sick, I will tell them not to have close contact with the bb. If the bb is sick, I will keep her away from them too. They go to kindy, so far so good, they don't fall sick so often. to say, it's when they are on hols that they fall sick......

For the sleeping arrangements, we will separate too.

I don't bother to separate. Separate to where?! Bc if they are falling sick, all the kids would have been in the house at some point in time, right? The illness would have been brewing for a few days b4 they actually fall sick. And the other kids would've been exposed already. Die, then die together, lor. Family wat . Not vacuum.

It works for us. I know what you mean. You might think we cold or too practical, but really no joke when one fall sick after another. At the moment, I'm operating under min. sleep condition becos of bb. We have limited adult available for help rotation, so this work for us to keep logistics nightmare a min. Like for now, DH is unwell, so he sleeps separate rm and I'm with all the kids. Am nursing bb, so here I am to while away the time, till I can sleep. 😄

Maybe when kids older and I have normal sleep time, then it will not be an issue 😄

But I've never bothered to separate. We had all 4 fall ill to H1n1 and chickenpox just 1+mth after once too! Including the baby.

Hey, I'm nursing my sick baby as I type this! The iPad rocks...

He is so fussy tonight. He is usually very easy. But he's got a bad cold, is feverish and is teething. Poor baby. Impossible to put him down!

but seriously I don't know how many more days of sick kids I can endure...I have to keep track of all their different medications, timings, dosage etc. Have to be very careful...I thought of getting DH to do some, but with so many to do, I decided that it wld be better for me to do all, otherwise might accidentally give double dose. At most, I measure everything out nicely for him to dispense.
