It is not the Avid reader badge right? I thought she earned that from the book reviews that she had submitted at the end of the year.

Is it not the Avid reader badge? My dd said that is, the Reading Activity Card badge, \"Avid Reader\". 😉

        Jennifer:

The newly appointed MP Ms Sim Ann is meeting Toh Yi residents for a dialogue session on 27th May (at blk 6 Toh Yi) and 28th May (at Bt Timah CC). Both sessions start at 7.30pm

From the media interviews, I get the feeling that she might be one of the MP we can talk to about the education system.

        Anyone going?

Sim Ann is not minister for Education system, but Heng Swee Keat is. Wonder if she has the power to influence him.
I thought of going, bcos of carpark issues.

Last night CL current affairs programme has an interview with her. She is interested in creating a society with more pple being bilingual, hence I thought she might be interested to hear more from us on the topic of CL stds in schools.

Hi, just to check with parents with regard to the Reading Activity Card, whether any of your kids ever receives the badge for completing 20 stars in the card?

In the past two years, my dd had conscientiously completed the required number of stars to qualify for the badge but never had she received any. Her classmates also didn't receive. I had never bothered to follow up with this.

However, this year, they are working on the card again, and once again I hear of this 20-star-badge. I wonder will the kids really receive the badges for their hardwork?
I do remember that my dd got it last year. Will double check and get back.

Agreed. In fact, when I spoken to dd's CL teacher last year, both of us have the same believe that you have to learn Han Zi before HYPY.

My son got it at P1 and P3 but not P2. According to my ds it depends on the teacher.
Your dd got the reading card already? haven't seen this card this year.
According to Funx computation, am I right to say that we can even calculate their level position by taking the average ranking of all the subjects 😆

Not really, because kids perform differently in subjects.

somehow i feel that the average percentile of the 4 subjects is indicative of the child's level percentile. perhaps some expert in statistics can advise?
Seems not. different subject has different mean and the spread of the marks(SD) also different. (i am not a expert in statistics. )
