      Brenda,

Your DHS open house visit sounds great! Actually, nowadays, quite a few of the top secondary schools have pretty impressive / new campus and good facilities. What is most important is the fit - the kid and the school environment / culture, etc.
At the VS open house yesterday, a teacher was telling that this year IP intake will be about 90. I didn't get the chance to clarify further, but just want to share this info. Seems like IP intake is small (so means that DSA success number will be smaller??). Hope I didn't hear wrongly.

      Hi Pen88n

Yes. Their open house is very impressive and the cultures there (like musical center and library are label with CL name etc) do make us feel 亲切. Heard the students will have chance to learn calligraphy too.

Wow! The IP intake at VS is really small and like that become difficult as the COP for IP intake will be up if more students are appling. As for DHS, if I did not hear wrongly, DHS intake of Secondary 1 student is around 400++.

VS yearly intake about 360 too. However, they have dual track, so IP may be about 90 and rest is \"O\" Level track. I thot I heard wrongly, but upon hindsight, it is highly possible as it is an alliance programme with Cedar - so it will be 90 from each school total 180 for Sec 1 onwards. Not sure if they will have another intake at Sec 3??? :scratchhead:

With such small numbers, wonder how it affects the DSA intake, as well as the PSLE COP? I am curious to know......(and to see too)

The min. COP for Cedar had already increased to 248 last year. I guess this year may break 250. :skeptical:

I am of the opinion that Cedar and VS will end up with 2 different COP for IP track and 'O' Level track - like ACS(I). The IP track will be higher than 'O' Level track, but considering that 'O' Level track has some affiliation to VJC, they wil still be a popular choice this year. I will not be surprised if the COP > 250 for this year.

oh brenda......glad that u went there yesterday.... 😄
ya, 亲切 and 温馨 feeling was what precisely we had gotten when we visited DHS few yrs back :celebrate:
the attendence of the openhouse was the deciding factor for my gal.

oh....DHS does sell their students' compo bks to the public.....i din know that......

            Hi augmum

Yes. We feel very comfortable :celebrate: and not 盛气凌人.

The compo books are very high standard and I hope to learn from them lah.

            hi-five :hi5:
ya, comfortable is the key word,
the child herself must have the comfortable and belonging sense,
the very first impression of the school......

no point forcing them to go to another school which they dun feel good,
even when there are times when parents thinks that other schools are of more elite.

oh yes.....their chinese model essays are indeed of high std .
when she first brought it home, i was kinda  to read some of them.

but their grading is very strict......
heard fr her chinese teacher (last yr) that none of the these essay published had gotten a A+ for the grading
that means not more than 56/70 ........ :slapshead: :faint: 😉

              Hi augmum,

I also agree that comfortable is the key word and import is dd must looking forward to go to whichever school she has chosen.

Yes, the book is really high standard and luckly i didn't 错过! They combine the essays produced from Year 1 up to Year 6. I have to standby the Electronic Dictionary as many words I also never seen or learn before lah. :salute:

So, anyone out there have lobang to help me get a copy?
