Haha...that's the problem. I need to change my address to B for phase 2B...but just but what if I get balloted out even at 1km :yikes:
Need to think of backup and strategy at phase 2C :xedfingers: -
hi, i am new here. can anyone advise on this:
my son is going to P1 in 2012, and now we have two choices for schools to apply both in 2C.
school N-northland(heard good in math and science) is within 1km from our own address.
school C-chongfu (heard good in language) is within 1km from grandparents’ address.
Both school’s PSLE results seem comparable. we are eligible to use grandparents’ address.
question: 1.which school is better
2.if apply C first and failed, will affect the chances to apply N since we cannot apply two schools at the same phase?
thnks a lot! -

1. both schools have their merits. you have to assess which school that you stand a better chance.hi, i am new here. can anyone advise on this:

2. for Chongfu, if you are using the grandparents address and registering via the caregiver's route, your registration will be under the 1-2km category despite that the actual distance is <1km. as chongfu has balloting for <1km for the past few years, i don't think you stand a good chance to even ballot via caregiver's route as your application will not be considered <1km

For registration using the address of the child’s grandparents or the parent’s sibling, a statutory declaration is needed. If statutory declaration is used, children who are registered using either the grandparent’s or the parent’s sibling’s address and residing within 1 km or between 1 km and 2 km of the school of choice are balloted together with the other children residing between 1 km and 2 km of the school. View details on eligibility for statutory declaration.

3. yes. you cannot apply 2 schools in any single phase. so choose wisely; and have a backup plan. -
Hi,
Apologize for the ignorance, but you mentioned that we cannot apply into 2 schools at any single phase, just like to ask if it would be possible say for 2B to submit an application in the morning time slot, observe the number of applicants vs places for that phase, and decide to opt out before re-submitting at another school during the afternoon time slot?
Or would we know of the number of applications for that phase in real time?
Thanks for the insight… -

It is possible. You will have to withdraw from the first school before you are allowed to register with the second school.sirtech:
For this, you will need to check with the school.Or would we know of the number of applications for that phase in real time?

it would not be real time but the number of applicants are periodically updated and posted on some board within the school, usually at the registration centre.
you can try calling, and hope that the staff that pick up your call is kind & free enough to walk over and check the status for you. -

Will you still be staying with your in-laws if your son is admitted to a school in Sengkang? You should only register using the address where you will be physically located.Hi, Am new to this forum. Not sure how to post new topic, so am posting a reply here hope to get some answer.

By the way, if your son fails to get into the school in P2C, you can only register him in P2CS. Those popular schools will have their places filled by P2C, so is there any point in changing your address back to Sengkang? -
What happened to all the earlier posts in the FAQ?
Is it just me or does everyone else see only 5 (well, 6 including this one I am posting) posts in this thread? -

Could some mods or admins have moved them somewhere? Only those in red or maroon have the power to do it.
