Is PSLE so important?
-
Hi, all
I'm taking my PSLE this year (2011). I am very good at Science (as in top- scorer in class... Ermm... I do not mean to be boastful...), my Math is not bad but I need to train myself with challenging questions which I am doing now. As for my English, I am good at oral and composition. My Chinese composition is good but my oral and comprehension are bad.
Should I use my Math and Science grades to pull me up as I am good at these 2 subjects or should I try to improve my EL/MT in time?
Opinions please!! :?:
Thank You

My opinions is that its not easy to score well in the Paper 1 (compo.) and you are in fact good to have this advantage.
I would say all these are your As cards (Maths, science etc) but same time you can also put in effort to buck up those weaker area (since still have time) so as to act as bonus that can improve your grade further.
Just my 2 cents thought -

In PSLE T-score, all subjects are equal weightage. That is why you need to ensure all subjects are taken care of. Putting your eggs in 1 or 2 baskets is never a wise choice.PlatypusMeowMeow:

Try to improve on the chinese oral. It makes up 25% of Chinese Paper. You also have to ensure that the other weak subjects are not too poor.

Every single mark counts. Don’t forget you are competing with whole P6ers cohort across Singapore, not only your class nor your school. Therefore, pays attention to all marks, they are very important !

Thx, but distractions and everything... yeah... -
There are some techniques to do oral. You can get some CDs to help you. You can find them in popular bookstore. Every mark counts. Every subject counts. But don’t stress yourself out.
I have written a story book on how a boy and his family went through the PSLE ordeal. The book "PSLE Survival Guide for the Family" has just been published and is available in National Library and bookstores. Perhaps the experiences shared in this book might be helpful to you.
It is a story book, so it should be a refreshing change for those who are cramming their heads with assessments and the like. -
