All About Full-Time Maids

My maid just renewed her contract with me but I didnt get to renew her passport in time..so her WP is only renewed for 6 months. I will renew her passport for her soon before she goes back for home leave. Her passport needs to be valid at least 7 mths in order to come back to Spore. When her WP expires in 6 mths time, i will renew for her again with her new passport info.

her passport will expire in August 2012. then if she goes home, how abt the airticket and all ? we buy from here? or we buy return ticket for her from here?

Actually I heard is quite easy to do the WP renewal yourself. You just need to log into MOM’s website to renew but before that you need to purchase those insurance. I didn’t do it on my own. I went through the agency to get it done. They charge abt $50 to process the WP renewal and collection of the WP.


For the contract, I just use the one previouslyfrom the agency and type out a new one (delete and add my own terms and new salary) and get my maid to sign.

how much r u giving her now? i told my maid i'll give her 450. cos now the new maid is 410 mah.. she currently drawing 350

If you are not going to renew her passport before renewing her WP, Then MOM will not give you the whole 2 years for the new WP. Most probably the new WP will expire one month before her passport expires.

Yes, we have to buy the air ticket for her for 2 ways.

She was getting $400 previously, for this renewal that begins this month, her new salary is $500.

Thats quite a jump... but if she really worth then can :imcool: atleast no need for training and searching... maybe u could have said 420 ba

i feel paiseh le if give her the salary the same as new maid.. she is ok la.. except she always never wash dishes clean, she is forgetful, she is blur queen.. other than that she is ok. so i think is ok let her have a bit. i think if she is ok, i will give her 1/2 month bonus after her extended 1 year. jst like we get also..

Giving them bonus as a reward for their good work makes them very happy. I gave my maid one month bonus everytime she completes her 2 yrs contract with me.

My maid is ok too except that when we (DH and I) talk to her, she dun like to look at us or answer us. Already told her many times that it's rude but still get the same from her...give up! Anyway, she can take care of my kids well, cook decents meals, dun give me black face or talk back when I scold her so I close one eye on that.
