Alegbra was taught only in P6 term 1 (during my elder boy's P6) - a very small chapter, clearly incapable of solving the so-called challenging prob sums. Better to learn it from pte tutors.
Algebra very pathetic chapter at P6 (first chap)...took a glimpse of the textbook when I was at Popular...like what Jennifer mentioned, it's totally incapable of solving any problem. Son was taught Models to handle Maths problems.S6169:
Here are the last 3 problem sums in this year's P5 MA P2 -
May I know at which level can the algebra be used to slove the problem?
Students in school are not equipped with sufficient methods of handling prob sums although they are given marks for diff steps (M1, M2 thing) :?
So, that's why private tutors are needed.
That means the Algebra can be used from P5 onwards as soon as the kids know how to use and give correct answer. -

To me, this is like a Algebra.
1.
B -> 1/7boy
G -> 1/4girl
a.\tBBBBBBB + GGGG -> 975
b.\tBB-G -> 150,
BB BB BB BB – GGGG -> 150X4 =600
a + b, \tB……B (15units) -> 975+600=1575
B -> 1575/15=105

Curious if you continue to keep till school reopens, any difference ? On second thoughts might be better, cos your child will surely hand in to Form T, better rightTrapwithin:
Submitted before school closed.
Better submit soon.

What was the mean score for P5 SA1 maths again? :nailbite:
For last year 2010 SA2 P5 MA Highest was 93, Avg was 58 and Median was 60, not easy :nailbite: -
Hi markfch,
Thanks for the information.
I will have no doubt on the hygiene level @ Student Care Junction since it is managed by the mummy volunteers.
Didn't know that the quota for accepting the children is so low. Only 20 out of hundreds of students?
In that case, must look for alternatives already.
thanks for the useful info.. -

Ya, bad timing! Aiya, I was just fulfilling the promise I made to P3/4 parents after SA1 to put up the questions ...for all you know, most parents may find them 'wet-wet-water' lah, like LizhiJust when we were consoling ourselves not to be scared by PH's std and then you post this. :yikes:

... they will heave a sign of relief instead :laugh:

Depends on the T. My elder boy's M1 T does not encourage Algebra.

Actually our children are introduced to simple versions of algebra since P1. Remember the pictorial qns with weighing scale (P1) and P2 section B IQ qns?
To me, this is like a Algebra.lizhi:

panicky mummy:
You're welcome. The reason they couldn't cater for more students is partly due to the space constraint. The ctr is only made up of a room about the size of 2 classrooms. I think they also want adequate living space for the students. That's what the lady told me when I approached her 1 yr ago.Hi markfch,
