I dun know wat is the std of this maid la…so that’s y i write down 1st…in case she really dun know wat i writing…then sign language cum gestures will do the job…

Btw…is my 1st time hiring maid…So on 1st day she come…Wat do u do with her? Orientate her then imm start do hsework? U will show her how to do it 1st?

when u ask this question, i now then realise, all my maids started first day, by sweeping floor.. haa.. i just tell them to put their things in their room, change then, show them where is the toilet, then i will tell them to sweep floor first while i slowly tell them what to do next, usually, next thing is mop floor. u'll be SURPRISE, some dunno how to sweep/mop..sweep usually is ok.but mopping depends on what type of mop u r using, u need to teach them and if use stick must tell them careful dun knock on furniture, use cloth to mop underneath furniture kinda thing.. then teach her manners, must call ma'am, sir , say morning blah..

Can I ask abt the maid's reaction when you ask her to sign the house rules? I have prepared a list of house rules (with reference from Tamarind's blog) and my colleague and hb gave me the \"roll eye\" face. But after reading this forum, I do know that it is necessary as it sets the expectation.

My hb even ask me..\"you think she know wat u writing\"? argghh...

My filo maid has no problem with understanding the house rules. I have set 40 rules, printed out the rules and pasted on her notebook for her reference. She signed and agreed when I went through with her when she first came.

micollh, when u ask her to sweep…use broom & dustpan? haha…I dun have that at home…I only have vacuum cleaner & magicclean…Safe to let them use the vacuum cleaner in the beginning?


then also other chores…like iron / clean toilet…u will do then show them? (haha…coz me also not good in ironing clothes)…

I will show my maid how things are done so she knows my expectations. Initially I will review her work performance with her on a weekly basis so that she knows how she can improve etc. After some time, review becomes a monthly thing and when she is ready to be on her own, I will just correct her once in a while or remind her.

u need to teach her how to use the vacuum cleaner or just use magicclean first cos they very \"mountain turtle\" unless their maid agent got teach but most of them still dunno.

u have to show them like \"demonstrate\" how to do a task.. is ok if not good, cos once they get it like ohh.. wash toilet is use the toilet cleaner pour aroudn it then scrub.. then they can continue.. i also always found out my instruction is wrong.. we imrpove from there lor..

Oh, this one I am not sure as my maid remit $ on her own using western union. I dunno how her family gets the $.
