      Admummy:
Is it a good idea to let the new maid \"attach\" to my existing maid coz i only managed to get air ticket for existing maid to fly back to Java after the new maid arrives...i was thinking the existing maid can provided sort of orientation and buddying to the new maid and i could save the trouble to re-train the new maid plus there will be no language barrier......what are your views? Thks in advance!!

I have person to jaga maid so I don't intend to let the 2 meet. But if training is really impt, and your old maid is leaving on happy grounds, and/or your current maid is a trusthworthy and nice sort of person, then it may be a risk worth taking.

      Reasons for not meeting:
      1. old maid could teach new maid negative things. I heard of stories where the new maid get acquainted with bf of existing maid...so the relationship continue.
      2. I would wonder if the new maid may be sad at seeing the old maid go home (ie increase homesickness) - brain start to wander etc (I have very fertile imagination).

        hi bicky,

Good that you manage to retain a good maid (even if your sis didn’t). it’s very strange becos usually the grandma or mum are the ones to find fault with the maid - for a man to be so picky…sigh. I pity your sis becos she’ll have more to deal with if she doesn’t get another good maid.

          Hi hquek,

Yes, keeping the maid is also a back up plan. In case the new maid cannot handle, we have the current one to assist. Ya lor, usually maids will have problem with their Mdm or ah mah. Maybe my mum witness how much she has done for the babies & appreciate her. Likewise, the maid also appreciate my mum for her understanding & care.

It depends on how much you trust you old maid. Sometimes the old maids will pass on gossip or purposely sabo the new one by giving them wrong instructions on how to clean your house etc.

Sigh.....while most would worry about maid wanting to quit.....I'm actually wishing she ask to go.

Frankly, still OK enough with her, but being experienced & in her 40s, she can be quite stubborn and not the submissive type. Will at times openly defy your instructions too, but still manageable. The main problem now is Maid & MIL is increasingly at loggerheads & despite telling maid to listen and give in to MIL, she does not always do that. SO now MIL turn her wrath at me......claim I dun bother, so she has to step in and then Maid angry with her. I MADE her the bad guy cos she always wants maid to clean clean clean.......but hello, MIL is a slave-driver, cannot satisfy type. Damn xianzzzz of the 2.

Hope maid ask to quit & then I can send FIL to nursing home officially. Already forsee that having maid won't work cos' all my previous maids cannot stand the MIL, next maid will not too. 🙏 🙏 🙏 GO GO GO.

How do u think a filial son will react? Of course ask me to bear lah, then will tell me I have to manage the maid lah.

Initially, DH had reluctantly agreed to place FIL in nursing home. Eventually I pity him & agreed to hire maid as last resort before sending FIL off..... tho I already warned that will not work based on the experience with last 3 maids (that time, maid only have to face MIL in the daytime loh). Dun stay together already soooooo much issues, stay together sure war. Also agreed that if this maid dun work, then no more maid, just send FIL and rid the maid. So now, all change tact.....become, if this maid dun want, get another. Frankly, I dun want .....rather maidless. As long as dun need to take care FIL, I'm more than happy and capable of settling my own house and kids.

Anyway, I just ignore both Maid and MIL just now. They can argue all they want, I'll wait to see who ask to go first, either way, I dun want to step into their shit. I have said enough times to both - if the maid wants to get herself out of the job, go ahead - if MIL wanna chase another maid away and we can't get one who knows how to take care of elderly, she can quit her job & stay home look after the old man herself (this is what she detest).

IN fact, I detest MIL now for recently, she has been telling DH to stay back and do things for her, dun have to send kids to tuition with me and then go out with me. Want me to send the kids myself!!! 不安好心

                      Hi jtoh,

thanks…yes, I am hiding in room surfing. Actually what I really feel like doing is to go out and clear some stuff…but really no mood to face MIL at all.
