DS - happily enjoying his achievement/recognition in his small pond, refused to go to bigger pond. Contented.
DD - also resisted going to bigger pond. But once transferred, could see her inching out of her hiding corner and her desire to still be a big fish is something I didn't know. Interesting :evil:

In fact, quite interesting to see her show some little sparks of intelligence and the elder brother (only 1 yr diff) getting a little surprised and edgy that the younger sis is slowly catching up on him :rahrah: that should keep him on his toes

Jumping into this thread as the subject caught my attention. It reminded me of one of RGS Principal’s slide when DD went for the recent Open House. She had a slide with the question "Big Fish, Small Pond?" or "Big Pond, Small Fish?" Then she went on to say that it does not matter as at the end of the day, it is still the same fish (that is, the size of the fish is the same). It is the quality of water that matters.


Then DD turned to me and said, "Mum, what she said is true but there are also other schools that can provide quality water." That was also when I realised that she wasn’t keen on gaining entry to RGS …

ever kept some fish before. given limited space, the bigger fish always get the food 1st…and more. The smaller fish always remain relatively small.


but that being said, the size of the fish is always limited by the size of the tank…u can only grow that much.

Come to think of it, big pond small pond is only for a short period of time. School life is only for that initial 20 years (for boys a little more) or less.


By the time they are out of school, they are all in the ocean and the world is their oyster. How they survive, be it they are big or small fishes, and how they grow are really up to themselves. This is the ultimate test that will determine your success in life.
