      MummyThreeStreams:
      On sleeping:

DS2's bedtime is between 730-8pm. He is 3+ and doesn't take any naps. By 730 he will usually ask to go to bed as he is very tired. I'll nurse him for about 5 min and he'll either fall asleep during nursing, or soon after. I don't pat him or lie with him. I'll sit on the glider and surf my iPad!

DS2 will wake up in the middle of the night and make his way to our bed. He usually doesn't bother us. Though my sleep might get disturbed coz of the kicking. Or if he wakes up extra early, like 5am, he migh start to sing or ask for something to eat. I sometimes leave a pack of crackers for him on the breakfast table so that I can get to snooze.

DS3 is 5months and usually goes to bed at 9pm. He'll wake up to nurse, but will sleep from midnight to 6 or 7am. So it's good. with DS1, i was woken up every two to three hours. DS2 also used to wake once or twice a night. but somehow now, I still feel so tired! Even more tired than with DS1 or DS2! I guess I'm getting old and taking care of three boys is really tiring...

DS1 is in P1. He used to have the same bedtime. But I realized that they would keep each other up. So I delayed DS1's bedtime to 8-830pm.
Wow, your kids sleep really early.

My DS2 sleeps at ard 9pm. My DS1 and DD sleep later which is around 10pm. DS1 and DD will sleep through the night (occasionally DS1 will wake up to pee). Really wish my DS2 will stop his crankiness so that I can have a good night sleep.

I've given instructions tat all has to be in bed by 830pm, but usually, DS will keep coming out of the room asking to pee, while DD1 will keep playing.. n DD2, though pat to slp by helper, at times will get distracted.. the 830am timing was implemented since late Jan this yr.. but till now, they still can't seem to slp so early.. n DS usually will slp only at 10pm plus.. any idea how n wat shld b done? If i were to b in there, i tink i'll most probably doze off b4 any of them..
I moved my dinner time to 6pm to accommodate earlier sleeping times for the two younger ones - 5yo and 3yo. My eldest is 12yo, and is allowed a later sleeping time of 10pm as he gets to wake up at 8am.

The younger ones are given a bath at 7.15pm, allowed to potter about and lights out/dimmed lights for them from 8pm. They are usually asleep by 8.30pm or 8.45pm. My 5yo doesn't have naps, so she's out first. My 3yo has afternoon naps, but I try not to let him nap longer than 1.5h, otherwise it's hard for him to sleep early. My 3yo still needs to breastfeed to fall asleep.

To help establish a sleep routine, we usually pray in turn and then lay back and not move. I don't encourage my chatty 5yo to talk after the prayers, but I know she's churning with things to say. We keep quiet until I hear their breathing slow down a lot and then I leave the room. :imcool:

My kids all take afternoon naps so it’s not easy to make them sleep earlier. My DS1 and DD are in full day childcare so they get to nap at least 2 hours after lunch. By the time they reach home from cc, it’s usually around 6pm+. After dinner and some tv time, they will take their baths at 8pm+.

DH and I want to spend some bonding time with them before preparing them for bed so by the time they zzz, it’s usually ard 10pm.

Like tigger88, my DS & DD1 are in full day cc too, so they'll definitely have nap at cc.. their bedtime used to b at 9pm, so tat my DD2 can slp w/o disturbance.. but by doing tat, they often woke DD2 up once they r in the room, so either maid or myself will haf to put DD2 to slp again.. tatz y i decided to put all their bedtime to 830pm, but seems like it still doesnt work for my 2 older kids.. fyi, they all slp in the same room, DS & DD1 is slping on a queen size bed, while DD2 will slp on single bed alone..

we usually pick both kids frm cc btw 530 - 6pm, will get them to bath and eat, by 7pm - 730pm they would have finish they dinner, so 30mins play time, 30mins tv time, den 830pm bedtime.. at times i will be in bedroom singing bedtime songs for them.. but often they end up singing w me thus not able to slp.. :scratchhead:

Long long ago (before the other kids came along) DS1 would go to bed at 9 or 930. But it would be really hard to settle him and he would be throwing tantrums from dinner time which was at 7pm. Then I realized that he was actually over-tired. So I pushed dinner to 530pm and bedtime to 730pm and he actually fell asleep much more easily! And DH and I had the whole evening to ourselves. since then, I’ve become a convert to early bedtime! The drawback is that when DH works past 8pm, he doesn’t get to see them.

Of course, if they nap, they will sleep much later. But they don’t nap anymore. They get about 10-11 hrs of sleep a day.

Yeah, I had no problems getting my eldest to sleep at 7.30pm or 8pm when she was the only child.
