One night , during dinner discussions, i decided to enlarge DD's knowledge of the world. What with her showing keen interest in the recent elections.
Me: \"Do you know what is socialism?\"
DD nodded her head vigirously as her mouth was stuffed with food. (sigh!)
Elated that I had underestimated her knowledge,
Me : \"You do? Goood.\"
Pause. \"What is it?\"
DD: \"You know , Facebook, twitter, ...\"

yup, chinese is a pain to my son too. So tried reading chinese books to him and to make sure he understood, I will do part translation and he will do part of it.
Haiz, can't say much about their standard of Chinese but at least they are having fun with it.
\"Emperor Shi Huang Ti 统一中国,this means that he united the whole of China\" and then I continued reading in Chinese \"统一文字\"...
and son replied in his uninterested tone, \"yah, he united the whole mosquito kingdom\"..
