Actually I have this wild dream in my mind if the school can customise this to parent's requirement based on the day we register with the school as a value-add service.

Parents who want to know will have it reported on the report book, in any case, these days, most report book results are printed so this can be catered by the computer program.

Parents who do not wish to know will have it not reported in the report book.

In that case, the onus is on the parents to decide how best to interpret the results or not to interpret anything. The school can state that if the information is misused, they reserve the right to revoke access.

Why must we try to be homogenous in everything where there is no need to be homogenous, especially with technological advancement? Just my 2 cts la.
      That's an excellent suggestion.
There will always be parents who want to know to better gauge their child's ability and there will always be others that do not want themselves or their children to have unnecessary pressure.

One question though, what happen when one kid find out his classmate has ranking and he doesn't ... will there be issues?

        hmmmm...interesting.

CHS and RI are elite neighbourhood schools because they are in Bishan estate, right? šŸ˜‰

if u want to walk through all HDB to reach the sch, then they are elite ngbd sch.
if u dun like hdb, u can choose to walk through condominum, landed property to reach the sch, then they are pure elite ngbd sch.
in the sch, if u raise ur head to the east, all u can see is HDB flat, then it is elite ngbd sch,
if u dun like hdb, u can raise ur head to the west, all u can see is Condominum, then it is pure elite sch.

            insider:

I reckon others' P1 and P2 lives are more stressful could it be due to the schools that the children are attending or due to poorer preschool preparation?

            http://i52.tinypic.com/5k0p34.jpg\">
            hi insider,

            Thanks for sharing.

Each kid is different so even in the same environment, what works for one might not work for another.

E.g., in the kindergarten that my ds attended from K1 to K2, I think they did a pretty good job (not just academic but other areas such as arts, food, annual concerts, ... etc). Some of his classmates (including my ds) are doing very well in P1 now ... but some other parents were not too happy with the kindergarten (one withdrew midway during K2, another put younger sibling in another kindergarten).

In the P1 class that my ds is in now, even though parents with older siblings in the school mentioned that demand is less now with no exams, less homework and tests, some parents still think it is stressful for their kids. I know most of them attend enrichment classes outside school, but that do not \"relieve\" the parents stress or expectations. My ds, on the other hand, is having his \"honeymoon\" (which I think it will last for another year at least) with other parents surprised that he is spending so much time playing sports and other weekly non-academic commitments outside school. I told them it is his interests and I do not see any reason to take them away from him.

            So .. same school/teachers/curriculum/class ... but different results/ expectations.

Eagles, a suggestion for you is to post this question in the respective NYPS and RGPS thread, you may get a better response there than here as the parents of these schools may not venture into this thread.

for rgps the class position is not stated in the report book but the parents can ask the form teacher during ptc....

u got any lucky number? i also want to buy.....

actually i feel that for P1/P2 the marks are all very close if they have attended pre-school (in sg).... the reasons are the marking is not that strict and the things they learn are rather simple.... except for those who have learning difficulties or can't concentrate in class.....

the reality will set in during P3 and P5 when the exam questions are much tougher and we can start to see those really good ones stand out from the rest..... that is when parents need to have some preparations.... one of the most important is managing expectation... either raise or lower the bar depending on the child's abilities...

good number, only 12 permutations :rahrah:

of course the higher the better, but i think with >90% the child should have a very good understanding of the subject...
