Am first time organizing BD party for dd. Would like to check with experienced parents out there, for 30 kids (8 yr old) and 20 adults, how big should the cake be ? is 3kg too much ?

Not safe to go by weight these days as fillings can weigh alot. So the cake may weigh 3kg but the physical size will be small.
Eg mousse, fruits filling weigh alot.

Unless u go to a traditional cake shop eg pine garden which has more cake content than filling, I would suggest u go by size.

As for your question - does your party include other food?
That's a consideration as well. If it's a heavy meal, a small serving of cake per person will do.
If it's just cake alone, I will get 40cm x 40cm just to be on safe side.
Kids who like cake can eat alot ESP if it's a flavor they fancy.
Anyway to be on the safe side, better to have more than to have not enuf.

      Hope this helps. 🙂

        hi cody,

My guests will have food before the cake. I hope the cake will be enuf to serve one slice for each guest, with some buffer for second helpings. I guess you're right, using the size is a more accurate gauge than using weight. Will check cake dimension with the bakery staff.

        thanks !

Thanks! Do you have a pic of the cake to share? May I know what is the cost of the cake? Could not find the design from Cake Avenue site.

Sorry for the late reply on the pic. Here you go.

Cost is S$185 for 2 kgs.

I am looking for wheel on the bus theme cake. Anyone knows where I can get? Most likely has to be private baker since I never seen outside…

                  Hi everyone,

Any idea where to get character cakes eg Disney? Are they good? Also where to buy those party needs n goodies for goodie bags? I’m thinking if I can find these items in wholesale, may be able to prepare for 60 over children or else can only get for 15…

                  Many thanks appreciate any advice

                    Hi natgoh,

Have you checked out this thread that has loads of sharings on birthday cakes and goodies
                    http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?f=37&t=2204

Bangawan Solo has quite a few selections.

For party goodie bags, I will shop at SKP for the bag and party favours then get some food from NTUC to add in too..

                    Happy shopping!! :celebrate:

                      Hi,

I have checked all the available online cake shops, and finally shortlisted 3:
                      auntyyochana.blogspot.com
                      ecreative.com.sg
                      cupcakedivinity.blogspot.com

                      The price is quite similar…
Anyone has any idea which is the best in terms of design & taste?

I had some the cake from ecreative at a party 2 weeks ago. Design wise it was well done and the cake tasted good too. But all freshly made cakes always taste good.
