Mummies, if you intend to close factory permanently, what birth control methods are you using?

My gynae told me that I can go for ligation after delivery. After I read about the possible side effects (heavy menses, depression, weight gain etc), I do not think I will go choose this procedure.

        Hi tigger88

My gynae also suggested for me to go for ligation after my 3rd dd... as mine was caesar.. so can do at the same time .. but after discussing with hb.. considering possible side effect on whatever birth control methods..

We decide to let nature takes its course.. thou we know we won't be going for #4.. unless........................ :yikes:

My 1st delivery was c-sect. 2nd and 3rd were natural deliveries so hoping I can go for natural again for my 4th one. So cannot do it at the same time but heard gotta wait for a month after delivery to do it?

I don't think I can afford to have a 5th one. Too old for that...haha, so I do not want a 'surprise'. Better to take precaution first...
Ya... need to wait first after the natural delivery to do the ligation.. but thought is 6months? You may check with your gynae..

Most likely my DH will go through the procedure (vasectomy) as it’s a safer (lesser side effect) than me going through ligation.

Hi...just share with you all my experience πŸ˜„ .

I had the ligation done in Sept 2009 after having my No. 3. Still before the op, my gynae still joke with me,\" Aiyoh, I can don't do for you lah; you still can have No. 4 lah!\" I tell him,\" Dr. K, please go ahead with the procedure; I don't want to go thru the 4th time pregnancy again!\" :rotflmao:

So, after 10 minutes I was like :snooze: :snooze: away lioa and when awake, already in the patient's room. It was quite painful and I remembered that for 2 days I can't move above freely in the hospital; less so for breastfeeding my baby 😒 😒 ....

Almost 2 years lioa, ermmm...I don't think I have any side-effect. Put on weight? Yes! But that was due to my θ΄ͺ吃ness lor!

Champion, thanks for sharing your experience. Good to know that you do not have any side effect. So you did your ligation after your natural delivery? How was it done? Via key hole surgery or need to do via c-sect?

No pain killers given after the surgery? I think c-sect will be much painful than key hole surgery and slower recovery. Anyway, still have time for me to consider the options. πŸ™‚

But in the end I did not get it done.
