I went maidless for a couple of months before the 2nd maid. The feeling of release was so good that I was happy doing the housework. But my mum insisted on having a maid…so I went back to hiring one. 😞

        hi

How do you send money for your maid to Myanmar?
I checked with Western Union but they don’t have service with Myanmar.
        Please advice.

Someone told me to try Peninsula Plaza - there are quite a few remittance agencies there.

Seems like Myan is a controlled economy so there is not very much choice for pp to send money back. And it seems again like pp will actually carry the money back to Myanmar for such remittance. Can’t imagine how much that will cost.

My maid is looking to send money home, in time for their planting season.

The Burmese shops in Peninsula Shopping centre provides remittance services. But you need to go in and ask. Their rates are also different.

For me, I go there only once and got one of the namecards with bank account. Subsequent months , I contact them and TT the money to the bank account.

Hi annfresh, I go to Peninsula ( same building where BATA shoes are ) there are shops selling singtel cards, provisions etc, they provide this service. I went to the 2nd level last month and remitted 200 for my maid. Theres a service charge of 5 dollars frm this shop. My relatives maid goes to the 3rd level quite often and the shop charges 2 dollars or sometimes nothing. (cos shes frequent and burmese). 😄
