All About Preparing For PSLE

Oh Greenbelt you are so comforting!!! Really thank you!!! I will check with my child again... I believe too that we cannot rely on that tutor any more , I will coach my child till PSLE personally, guess I have to step in.... any question problem I face I shall post it here!!!! Thanks...:)

I'm sure your child will be very happy to have your personalised attention and support. Raising his self-esteem and cheerfulness at this juncture is much more important than cramming some last minute knowledge. If he has a happy heart going into the exams, he is bound to do better.

Remember: If he struggles with a problem, never mind; just note it and post it and others will help.

I'm doing this with my boy right now since he hates tuition. I must say that I don't do much coaching though. I just make sure he does prescribed work, learns to mark it himself. I'm hoping it works. So far, there's improvement, but process slow. I did seek school teacher's help, and she said she'd call him for extra 1-to-1 but todate has NOT done so. :evil:

For math, for those he doesn't know, I will go thru and solve it. Unfortunately, my methods may not be what he's used to. So far, he seems to understand. Thankfully he has 2 older siblings that I go to if I am really stumped as to how to solve math. Altho' they too have the weirdest solutions sometimes !!! So I have to \"edit\" and show it to the boy in a more easily understandable way. Maybe I underestimate him too. Oh well.

My brother has a dd who is really no good in study. All along he leave it to his wife (FTHW) and tutor to handle her daughter studies. Then last yr which is his dd psle yr, my brother was very worried that my niece might not pass her psle, so he spare about 3 mths prior to prelim to give her dd intensive Maths coaching...My mum who is staying with him. She told us during that period of intensive training, my brother hair 'very messy' hahaaaaaaaa.....My niece complaint to my mum that my brother very fierce hahaaaaaaa.... :rant:

But nevertheless, the time spend my brother paid off as my niece get an aggregate good enough to go express stream...

Wah, my hair (or lack of it) .... got to use vacuum everyday in house and clear the drainage system as well! haha.

It would be good for both parents and child to understand each other.
I wrote a story book about how a family went through the ordeal "PSLE Survival Guide For The Family". It is available in National Library, and bookstores.
It is a story book, with simple English, which means the child can read too.
It is not a revision guide book, so it should be quite refreshing change for those whonare doing assessments day and night. By reading the experiences, successes and mistakes of others, perhaps we can benefit. I hope it is useful for you.

I saw this book of yours at Popular Bookshop not too long ago and bought a copy. Completed reading in about 2 to 3 hours and passed to my ds who will be taking PSLE next year to read. Gotta mentally prepare him as he needs a lot of pushing. Great reading.

I'm researching on the sec schools COP and printing for him to review and to have him set his goals... stress siah. He's now at around 220+, potentially should be able to reach 240+ provided he focus. He's weak in languages but good in Math and Science (provided he does not make careless mistakes)....

I spend more time with him on languages, his math and science marks slipped. Very irritating. :stupid: So I'm going to use your wife's method of visiting Popular bookshop and gather those books and papers for my ds to practise and practise and practise :xedfingers: hopefully my ds will not be turned off by a KS mummy.....

My ds read the book, have not asked him about how he felt about the book, will do so this weekend. Am trying to get him to feel the heat. hahaha. Once he does, am quite sure i will have an easier time getting him to study. hahaha

But personally, I will want my Dh to read that as he leaves everything in the children’s dept to me. sigh*** But I will endeavour…
