I can't imagine why the office ladies can carry their expensive designer bags and squeeze on public transport.

bcoz they are environmentally friendly? πŸ˜‰

Buy designer bag is being kind to themselves. Take public transport, especially Mass Rapid Transport, is being kind to Earth.

I know some people scrimp and save to buy their beloved bags.

Some even skip lunch to save money.

Actually can understand why, cos a nice bag enhances your look.
Also when you obtain a bag through hard work, you would feel that you have achieved something and you just want to hug it and be near it all the time!

take my colleague for example... she has her eyes set on 1 coach bag, think cost more than $500...

she really sacrifice her lunch & transport js to be able to buy that bag...
if she join us for lunch, she wont buy any thing that is more than $3.00

and since she stay in tiong bahru & our office is along chinatown, she walked to & fro office each day.. :faint:

i asked her: do u really hv to do this, js to get that coach bag... izit worth it? \"

she is also that kind to shrimp & save js to go on a backpack europe trip too. u nvr see her buying outside drinks; she brings her water bottle along with her where ever she goes.

From the posts here, looks like most kiasuparents forummers are not bag crazy but a practical bunch of people. Is it because we rather splurge on our kids than pamper ourselves?

                WCW:

yes i also dnt uunderstand lor... it's so un-class
                class..? hmm..

just wanna say, the rich will not understand the peasants..

the peasants don't really care as much about class.. what is important is holding on to the things they like.

Everyone can have the desire and will to buy something they like, but not everyone can afford a car or take taxi everyday, or care about \"class\"..

that is not achievement for me lei... πŸ˜‰

I agree. What's the point of trying to keep up appearances? My mum always say what's the point of having a nice wallet when there's no money for it to hold. Might as well keep the money spent inside a cheap wallet.

I think it's 1 thing to save to buy what you want, but it's a different thing having to forgo basic necessities like meals to do so.

Actually, I don’t really go for branded. Sometime I find that branded bags are not as nice as those 2 fig bags. When I buy bags, I go for the design and colour that I like.

Yes, I make sure I feel comfortable carrying it out of the house.

I personally feel that one should carry or buy a handbag within one's means. No point scrimping and saving just for a handbag... This is so suffering. No point following or copying others' lifestyle.
