How do u know the new school won't have cca?
on that page, there is a link for FAQ. read the list of FAQ, not too many Qs. there's info on the 8am start time, about school uniform, CCA and facilities.

Btw, i don't have kids in primary school. May I know what CCA includes? And why is it so critical?kabalevsky:

will consider xingnan for my boy. i am within 2km range under P2C. i rcvd xingnan brochure. heard tat they have a new female principal, formerly a school in the east & ever taught in RGS. they are also building a new indoor sports hall. infact xingnan did pretty well in 2010 psle , the top student is 2nd in jurong west, just after rulang. i had expected it to be westgrove instead. wish me luck!!!!
Good Luck :xedfingers: :dancing: -

CCA stands for Co-Curricular Activities.
It is something that students can choose (optional) and they engage in this activity after school on days that the teacher in charge fixes.
So for eg, my ds1 stays back after school on Tues and Thurs for his CCA. He enjoys it a lot and learns from his teacher and seniors. He gets to interact and makes friends from other classes, and other levels.
The activity chosen usually brings benefits to the child too. For sports, a healthy and fit body, discipline, team spirit etc. For music groups, music coaching, learning to play in an orchestra etc. For societies like calligraphy or art, then learning new skills. For performing groups like drama club, the chance to perform and hone public speaking/ acting skills?
Some primary schools also offer uniformed group CCAs.
Nowadays choices abound, like golf, horseback riding and a lot of exotic things I never heard of when I was in Pr school myself. I joined very traditional CCA when I was a student cos those were all that was offered!
So every school offers a different set of CCAs. If your child has a passion for golf you might have that in mind when you choose a school because not many offer this. Schools also have niche in different areas. Like Rulang in robotics, for eg, so if your child loves robotics, then that school would be in your consideration.
It is not critical per se, cos it is optional and most wait till upper primary to choose it. But my ds1 happen to love this particular activity and because he learnt so much from his tr and made a lot of good friends, so I thought it is quite beneficial for ds2 to have CCA from P1 too. -
Hi parents,
Like to know, other then P1, is Frontier taking in other level in year 2012? Does new school just open for P1 only?
Considering of transferring DS to Frontier, P3 next year, due to walking distance fm home.
Thanks in advance. -

I would suggest that you call up the office of JWP to find out if there are vacancies and the necessary procedures..
