2011 P1 Registration Exercise for 2012 In-Take

kidznme:
In dilemma...Hub says maybe we should consider Poi Ching which is closer to home. But it's a SAP sch with HMT Chinese starting in P1. That's going put a lot of stress on our kid. What is the balloting history for Phase 2C registration? We are living less than 1km to the sch. The dates are drawing near and we really need to strategize!!! :nailbite:
Hi kidznme,
Allows me to \"intrude\" here to share my view
.
I was talking to a colleague yesterday whose youngest son is currently a P6 in Poi Ching Pri. I was like,\" :yikes: Poi Ching? SAP school leh; pressurising right?\" She gave me a very hearty smile and replied,\" No, my friend it is a SAP school no doubt and the HMT standard is very high. Other than these 2 factors, my son is doing quite ok with other subjects.\"
Think it is a very encouragement statement coming from a PSLE child's mummy :imcool: . So, kidznme - no worry since you are so near the school, maybe you should give it a try
....After all, no try no gain
All the Best! -

What is the balloting history for Phase 2C registration?
Hi kidznme,
The balloting history of Poi Ching can be found here.
http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/content/tampines
Based on past history, balloting was not conducted for those who live less than 1km from the school except in 2006. So your chances are very high. Hope this year it follows that trend
Good luck. :xedfingers: -
parents, i would be enrolling my gal to Bukit Panjang Primary School, but in pharse 2B. anyone know will there still be balloting rounds for pharse 2B? Because i am staying >2km from the school. Am wondering should i register under caregiverβs address, does it make a different?
thanks. -
Thanks, Champion and RRMummy. Yes, the chance is high since we live so near to the sch. The problem is - we don't speak Mandarin at home...and my kids are mixed race. Although they are learning Chinese out of their enrichment class and at pre-sch, I think it is really going to be a linguistic challenge to them if we were to put them in a sch like Poi Ching. Alternatively, we could consider St Hilda's, but the chance in getting into this overly-popular sch is slim...really slim...

Hi Volcano
Bukit Panjang Pri School. Last year vancancy for phase 2B was 55 and no. of children registered was 45. So all in. But for this year, really dun know. Cos with the decrease of no. of vacancy in other schools (West View and Zhenghua) which will also affect the decision of the parents. Plus, 2005 babies are more than last year. And oso not to forget the "foreign talent". Haiz.
For me, I already give up on the school I want. Really disappointed with everything. So many unexpected, maybe is fated bah.
Good luck to you. -
volcano:
Hi volcano, it will help if you refer to BPPS's past years balloting history to have an idea of what happened years before and use it as a guide. As for the current year, it would be impossible for anyone to know if there will be balloting for P2B for this school.parents, i would be enrolling my gal to Bukit Panjang Primary School, but in pharse 2B. anyone know will there still be balloting rounds for pharse 2B? thanks.
If you register under caregivers' address, assuming the address is <1km, it will still be treated as 1-2km category. If the caretakers' address is >1km, the category you would fall into would be according to the actual distance.
Will experienced parents in this forum correct me if I am wrong and hope these info. helps.

So far, for Phase 2B, there has not been balloting.

You are most welcome.
I understand your dilemma.. :snuggles:
Do you have a Plan C? -
dorisp:
Using caregiver route, anything less than 2km will be considered in that category (ie 1-2km) - so caregiver within 1km, the application will be classed as 1-2km; caregiver 1-2km, application classed as 1-2km. Anything more than 2km, no change.

I think have to go MOE to 'sompa' that caregiver is indeed the caregiver (must not be employed etc). Procedure wise I'm not sure. Apologies. -

Hi GSK,For me, I already give up on the school I want. Really disappointed with everything. So many unexpected, maybe is fated bah.
Long time no chat.
Sorry to hear that.. :snuggles:
Don't despair, I have known of people who regret after getting into the school they aim for and also people who are now super happy despite ending up in the school which was not their first choice..
I know this is a super stressful period. Hang in there, ya.. :snuggles:
