      loveSG,

All the three schools you mentioned are very popular and the chances of balloting for SCGS and MGS are very high so living beyond 2km would almost definitely put you out of the running. You stand a much higher chance of getting into RGPS as you live within 1km. RGPS is a good school and they do prepare the girls well for PSLE, as there's no affiliated secondary school.

I doubt if the schools will entertain a visit.

Thank you very much for your input jtoh!

          Hello,

I am hoping to get some advice from seasoned kiasu parents! We moved to SG two years ago from NYC and became PRs last year. We have a 5 year old daughter that we would like to enroll in the local system but feel at a loss in terms of which school to choose.
We live in under 1 Km from Raffles GS, but scared about stories on the amount of academic pressure on the girls. I don't think that would be the right environment for our girl. Heard good things about SCGS in Novena, and MGS but then >2Km ....am I wasting my time by trying to enroll her in those schools?

Is it possible to contact schools for a visit? I realize that I am very late in the process but any advice would be highly appreciated!

          Thanks in advance!!!
Based on historical results, for P2C, there will be no chance at all if you are not within 1 km of SCGS or MGS. Even for RGPS, 1km will need balloting. Regardless, they are all very popular and bound to be competitive during registration.

To be objective, you should try for RGPS. The school should be able to prepare the kids well even if there is no secondary sch affiliation.

The answer is no. Only ex St Joseph's Institution Junior or ex St Michael's School old boys are allowed to register in the old boys phase at St Joseph's Institution Junior.

wondering if anyone has an idea what the likelyhood for balloting in sjij for phase 2b (under 1km) considering 135 out of 240 places are already taken up to day one of phase 2a2?

Balloting will probably happen for this school in phase 2b under 2km. Under 1km all should get in for phase 2b.

You are giving answers to questions that were posted WAY back in 2008!
Do you really mean them to be \"Just for Laughs\"? 😉
