You will be surprised that some parents can teach their kids very well: \"If not sure, say \"don't know\"\". (personal experience of some acquaintence's kids. They even teach the kids to fight back when bullied).
Teacher: John, what is your home address?
John: Don't know
Teacher: Ah? What do you mean you don't know? Trying to be funny issit?
John: No cher, my mummy said cannot tell. She said if anyone ask, I must tell them I don't know.
Teacher: I send you to Principal office then you know!
John: Cher please cher.. my mummy said must say don't know one..
cher please I don't want my mummy go to jail...i duno.. i dunno... Cher!! HUH!! You send me to Principal office, I wallop u ah!! :nunchuk:

teddy posted a MOE reply on this issue of home address
\".... Please allow us to clarify that any false information given by parents during the P1 registration exercise will be referred to the Police for investigation. The child whose parents have given false information during the registration exercise will be transferred out to another school with vacancies.
If you have knowledge of someone having provided false information, you may write to MOE with specific details so that the Ministry can investigate the matter and take necessary action ....\"

MOE needs people who know of such cases to blow the whistle, they do not have the resource to check & monitor all the students' addresses ..
Maybe in this competitive society, MOE knows that people will surely blow whistle...so they don't have to waste their resource. -

..see the dilemma is.. as shown above we have parents here who knows someone commiting such offence.. but we having our Asian values and thoughts for the friends we know and their kids so ... hesitate to blow the whistle.. fearing that the guilt might be overbearing.. so many refrain..

we hope that MOE do something.. but without whistle blowers what is the success rate of an effective clamp down on this practise?
so.. while we continue to sit on this issue.. many continue to abuse the system.. because so many have gotten away with it... many will become bolder..

the case i know of almost finsihing the primary school alreadyβ¦

Yes, also we feel that due to our actions as whistle blowers, we don't want a family and an innocent child to suffer. I just wish there was a system where these would be weeded out by the system itself or failing that people got more honest with themselves (doubt if this would happen - too naive!)

(Refer to yr para 1) i agree with u, TOTALLY!!! -
gertmum:
yes actually i know of many ppl who do not live within 1 or 2 km of the school but managed to cheat the system and their children are in the sch of their choice, they borrowed or rented a studio apt just to get their kids into the \" branded sch\"
second that, the ex owner of my current flat allows his relatives to borrow his address. I am surprise to receive letters from the school and I know these ppl does not stayed there previously.
What I do : <return>
