For those who are considering My First Skool, this is just for your information. This is what I get when I tried to contact the Principal of the branch across the road from my home.

        Dear Joyce,

Just for your information, the Principal has never contacted me up until now. I have since enrolled my child with another childcare who provides a much better service.

It is indeed disappointing that such a person is being employed to manage one of your childcare centres. I do not dare think of what kind of care is being provided for the young and vulnerable given the poor attitude. I shall also make sure that such poor service is known to public so that they know what little to expect from your Principal.

        Thank you.

        Best regards,
        Carolina

        Dear Joyce,

Following our below email correspondence, the principal still has yet to contact me to-date. It is with great disappointment that I note such poor service level from your childcare's principal. Does she take such a long time to revert to parents' queries (if any) who already have children in her care? How can I trust that my child will be well taken care of in a centre run by such a person?

        Best regards,
        Carolina

        To whom it may concern,

I have a 20-month-old boy and I am interested in putting him in childcare @ the above stated centre when there is an available space. However, I would like to arrange to visit the centre and have a better understanding of its daily programs, etc., before deciding whether to put my son's name down in the waiting list. I would greatly appreciate if someone can contact me at [mobile no.] to arrange for a visit, as I am currently working part-time.

We are currently living at Blk XXX, which is just across the road from the centre.

Thank you and have a nice day.

        Best regards,
        Carolina

            Hi chillies,

My boy is currently in Global Kids. He's been there for 2 days so far & I placed him there based on gut feelings when I visited the centre, so I don't think I should comment much. However, I bumped into someone today who's boy has been there for at least 1/2 a year (I think), & she said she's been very happy with them so far...

              Hi caroline,

I am staying ard buangkok Mrt, so looking for childcare ard this area. I believe Global Kids is not ard my area right. Today I went to both center (My first skool & little schhouse). Both on waiting list. My first impression, MFS is spacious, new & more quiet than little schhouse. But the wise principle & teacher in little schhouse are more friendly.

For those whose kids in K2 in MFS, do you know when will they arrange excursion to Primary school?

Most of the other private schools I heard already done that even PCF.

                    Hi Neighbour,

I'm staying in the same area too. Hee~

Yes, Global Kids is not near us. It's at Mountbatten, near my parents' place. Our area's childcares are generally all on waiting list, some so long that they refuse to add anymore names to their waiting list.

I don't remember visiting Little Schhouse, but I did go to My First Skool & Sparkletots.

My First Skool refused to let me visit the centre on account of the principal's absence, that's why my emails to the main NTUC centre. I finally received a phone call yesterday by the \"acting Principal\" who explained that the Principal is currenly on hospitalisation leave and main NTUC centre is not aware of it, that's why I was having problems. I was like, the Principal disappeared for almost half a year & main centre is not aware??

As for Sparkletots, apparently they have a policy of not allowing parents into their centre too, so I only got to see their curriculum pinned outside at the \"waiting area\". Didn't like what I saw so striked off my list.

The other one is Faith, which I didn't visit at all, but rather walked pass one morning when I took my son to the nearby playground. I could hear the teachers/teachers' helpers (don't know which one) scolding the kids in every single classroom I walked pass, all with China accent. I later confirmed with a neighbour, who's daughter is there, that they employ a lot of China ladies as teachers' helpers. He also told me that this centre is actually not that good, but he & his wife has no choice as they're the only centre within walking distance that provides dinner & kids can stay until 9pm (he & his wife often work late).

I didn't bother visiting anymore centres around our area after that as every parent I talked to told me that all centres around our area (Hougang/Sengkang/Punggol/etc.) have long waiting list as long as they're not terrible terrible (even if they're not that great), reason being there're too many young couples with young kids in these areas so supply is less than demand. That's why I went for the next available option & that's to find around my parents' area & ended up with Global Kids.

                    Sorry, long grandmother story...
