Hi, nobody think yamaha or cristofori is good? my son is learning at cristofori, going to take grade 3.
how can i tell whether a teacher is good for my son or not? want to get a teacher to teach at home after the exam, so need to think seriously whether to find a new teacher for him. -
Hi, I think it depends more on the teacher than the school. There is a bit of luck sometimes whether you can find a good teacher or not. Whether a teacher is good or not could also be quite subjective in my opinion, you have to find a teacher whose teaching style matches with your kids’ learning style in order to produce better results. E.g. some of the kids needs more encouragements and caring than the others, while some of the kids are very competitive and need to be challenged all the time in order for them to perform. Some parents prefer teachers who are strict and disciplined, some prefer more caring and motivating. I think as a parent we know the best about our kids’ learning styles and what kind of the teachers suit them more.
In my situation, a good music teacher for my kid would be one with solid skills and can communicate clearly ( bear in mind most of the good violin teachers are foreigners) to my kid. Know how to teach kids ( because teaching children and adult are two different things) and can inspire them with music… -
I have tried 2 violin teachers in Cristofori AMK and sad to say, their teacher’s standards are really poor. I’d advise not to opt for this school.

There are so many teachers out there and there are many who really don’t know how to teach and sometimes really can’t put the finger on them because they may well have been taught the wrong way in the first place. Some don’t place the importance on how to hold the bow, in the case of violin, or how to have a proper hand position or sitting position, in the case of piano, and all these so called "little things" are important. As parents, we won’t know unless a "proper" teacher points it out and by then some things are difficult to "unlearn".

Hi there, does anyone feels that should the violin teacher requires you to go to their place for lessons, it shows that the teacher is very good as he or she need not go all over the place to teach?? That's what i heard fm some of my frens. They mentioned that it is usually the case if the teacher is good. Only teachers who are lacked of students will seek out!
Anyway, I still intend to look for a violin teacher who will be able to come by my place. Any recommendations, pls pm me? Thanks a lot. -
