2011 P1 Registration Exercise for 2012 In-Take

Dun say u r a lousy mummy. Good school doesn't guarantee Good Grades. There's a lot of good students from average neighbourhood school.

Sometimes, I see neighbourhood sch teachers putting in more effort to teach, and the students are also given more opportunities and space for growth. For some good schs, teachers may just skim thru' topics as most kids may have learned from external tuition (which parents will have engaged), and the result is need to put your kids into tuition to ensure they can catch up.[/quote]Hi Pen88, ya.. @Twin_mum - Dont worry too much. Most children come together to play. They hardly compare which school is better or how many marks they score. Only the parents compare.

True! But between me and DD1, she compares way more than I do, it does worry me coz she takes it literally :sad:

most teachers in neighbourhood schools are hardworking. Those that teach in branded schools assume that parents will teach, if not send them to enrichment lessons, so they less hardworking.

as what EduReach advise, aim for good Secondary school. dun worry too much at this primary school stage.

to share with you - my friend has 2 girls, both studied before at one of the neighbourhood schools in Pasir Ris.

her elder girl finished studies at RGSS, now on govt scholarship to pursue law degree in US. Her younger girl entered Nanyang Girl’s High. The younger daughter was hand picked by teachers recently to represent the school in debates overseas in China.

see! neighbourhood schools also produce bright talents !

Firstly, you are NOT a lousy parent...honestly.
There is no truth that a branded school has top grade teachers.
What phtthp mentioned is very true...teachers in 'branded schools' assume that the kids attend tuition/enrichment, so they hardly teach. However, not all the kids in the class have such luxury.

Thanks Hot for sharing. It is inevitable to have some good and some not so good teachers in every school, including elite schools. What is more important is the school culture, the beliefs and directions of the leaders (P and VP, etc) and the support from the school's other stakeholders.

it is those branded schools that don’t teach much - leaving it to the parents and tutiton teachers to teach.

I think be it branded/popular or normal primary school, as long as parents keep an eye on the kids’ work, they will be alright. In a class of 30-40, no matter how good a teacher is, parents need to be involved.
