is JEI maths similar to MPM, or different ?

            - how does JEI Maths approach teaching Maths to kindergarten kids aged N2 - K2 ? how much is JEI ?

            - what is MPM approach of teaching ? MPM is expensive. $ 440 Per Term for 12 wks.

Hmmm JEI maths is more detailed and isolate your child’s weaknesses. They have a diagnostic test and the given workbooks will be based from the results. DD1 CC is a little advance in teaching (starting multiplication) so JEI kind of helps her get a good foundation in the basics (number bonding).

              K1 - P1 is $465 per term (12 weeks)

I am not sure about MPM though so can’t comment

My DD kindergarten is very slow in teaching (still teaching counting).I try to teach DD on my own , just wondering wat is the average k1 level for math. We did some addition and subtraction, DD is still ok. I try to let her do simple problem sum but she seems to have difficulty understanding. Is problem sum too advance for their lvl? :scratchhead:

Yes, problem sum will be a little too advance for K1 by this time. What you need to concentrate for K1 and K2 is to build the foundation and strong +- computation skills. Then you can proceed to x/ computation skills and then slowly introduce simple problem sums.

Thanks Pen88n. I always tot x/ is more difficult than problem sum. Maybe I should give DD a break until she is K2 then I continue with simple problem sum.

Please advise is this too difficult for them : __ +19 =31
I was like :frustrated: :stupid:  when teaching her (found this qn in her k1 assessment book) :?

OMG puff! don’t go too harder. my DD2 only add within 10.I just follow the knindergarten. My daughter doesn’t listen to me.So that I hard to teach her.She learnt from school the I give practise. Now I planning to teach - (minus).I don’t want to confuse her.

For my son I taught nursery syllabus in play group,in K1 I taught K2 syllabus. In K2 I stuck cos he couldn’t follow if I go further. But I sent him to kindergarten.
You can buy assesment books and give her to practise.Parents we can teach lot of creative things and help in learning through play.
                      Just my opinion.

                        puff,
your dd must by your first kid. 😄
i was like :frustrated: :stupid:  teaching ds1 math when he was in preschool as i had no idea what to expect of P1 math. considering neighbourhood pri school standard (ie ds1's current primary school), they don't test P1 kids on questions like such until they know addition with regrouping method - part of p1 syllabus. so you don't have to worry. can try again next yr. in any case 12+19 involves 'carrying over/regrouping' ie '2+9=11, must carry the 10s over to get 31'; this is definitely not regular K1`work.
