All About Parent Volunteers (PV)

hi gajidouma,
That school given u a no for PV does not mean u are part of PV. They will arrange to fill PV form and will conduct interview with u.
Final they will inform via e-mail, that final result and total selected PV for that year. -
Thanks guys… no wonder people all say the whole process can be even more taxing than job hunting… but I’ve decided not let myself be drawn into this. Whichever school my kids ends up with, my love and support for them will never change.

anyone did PV for Nanyang Pri? heard tat the criteria is high…like applying for a Manager’s post when ur exec level nw…v difficult?
-
and anyone knows y majority of Nanyang Pri PVs are outside 2km?
-

Hola
Just to let you know 2c supp is the same practise as 2c demeand more than supply based on distance -
gajidouma:
do you mind if i ask what school is that also when is your sometime back which year is your kid going to be register for pri one this is essential infohi, thanks for the helpful tip. Luck, in other words, is just the caculation of your chances.
I have written in to apply PV some time back and recently the school finally responded and gave me a reference number for future communication purpose. Good news or bad news for me?
Does it mean the school has accepted my application and now I just need to wait for them to assign me the PV task?? or it is just simply an acknowledgement of their receipt of my application email? -

Hi Parents,
Like most of you, I have this intention of joining clan, RC, signing up as parent volunteer etc in order to get into Phase 2B. However the school which I prefer is > 2km from my house. Is it REALLY true that in the group of phase 2B applicant, the school will still sub-categorise them into <1km, <2km>2km. If so, would that mean that chances for category >2km is almost ZERO, especially if it’s a popular school you are applying. Can anyone out there help me to confirm this point…
The worst fear I am having now is that I have to buy a new flat/condo near that school, work as volunteer, join RC and even with all that, it doesn’t GUARANTEE any seat. Am I right !!! … -_- -

you should read about St Hilda's http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?t=452&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=45 case. The parent did PV. The parent reside outside 2km. During Phase 2B, the response is overwhelming (in such case, priority is given based on distance, and if demand exceed supply for each of these distance category, balloting may be carried out). Only all of those residing within 2km got in....ie the parent is unsuccessful. She had no chance in securing a place in Phase 2C as usually balloting required within 1km in Phase 2C.
