      Scary:
      Ladies,

A neighbour's DD in last few classes of P3. Told me that the teachers don't teach and ask the students to get their parents to get tutors for them.
Is it true if the kids are in last few classes in PH, the teachers sort of \"give up\" on them and leave it to the parents to coach them? I know some schools are like this.
I think in any school, it really depends on the teacher, not necessary only in the weaker classes. But weaker classes will definitely need more help, so I dun see any issue if the teacher asks for parents to arrange extra coaching outside the classroom provided the teacher is already putting in efforts in teaching the class.

If a child is weak, I guess the parents will need to seek help bcos there is a limit the teachers can do. The child doesn't necessary have to be in weaker classes. After CA/SA, I guess parents would be able to gauge the performance.

A neighbour told me her friend's child in a particular school had to attend remedial in the evening. The so-called remedial class is chargeable as it is out-sourced.

          Jennifer/Janet,

The mum told me that the teachers don’t teach and ask them to look for tutors to teach them instead. The poor girl is in PH P3 last few classes. The mum is uneducated and bo bian, has to outsource everything. Want to verify if this is true as I don’t believe such things happen in PH.

Honestly, I have no idea if my son's teacher teaches either...or teaches using a proper system. I know his CL teacher is doing his best...Maths wise, hard to say. For EL & Science (same teacher)...just following the pathetic textbook.

I believe if it is very bad, parents can speak with the teachers or principals. With the whitewash election, they will be more \"willing\" to listen to the needs.

Did the parent hear it directly from the teachers? Or it was via her child or someone else? If it was through a 3rd part, she needs to clarify with the teacher and made her stand clear. If she did hear such nonsense (that teachers don't teach) directly from teacher, then she needs to raise to higher level, principal.

I am fine with it if the teachers ask the class to engage tutors to provide additional coachings, but I will be appalled if the teachers do not teach at all. I am not at all surprise or shock if the teachers do not teach (enough) but I will be shocked if they dare say it out loud.

                Edited to add :

As I was going thru the FT list for P3, one name stood out to me. Care to share which class your friend's dd is in?

I'm hoping that somehow part of the original message got deviated when it reaches you. But then again, deadwoods are everywhere. What makes us think that they would not be found in the teaching profession? Still, I would give this case the benefit of the doubt unless more parents can verify it.

Suddenly I feel very fortunate that ds has a really good chinese teacher to guide him. :boogie:
