      Hi Janet,

Advise your DD to find some fren(s) she can get along with and stick together during recess. With this, there is lesser chance of bullying.

My DD same age as your DD. Good thing that her P1 class girls are pretty close and they stick and play together during recess. I'm less worried as my DD quite a strong character and she will not keep quiet if bullied.

Thanks for your advice. My gal is quite a chilli padi. She will tell me what happens in class/school, and reminds me not to call the teacher as it is 'settled'. No choice, have to take her word.

In this case, I think you need not worry too much. If your gal can tell you she has \"settled\" with teacher, then it is ok. It is those kids who have issue not \"settled\", dare not tell teacher, or timid type that need more attention in this area.

I’m trying to prepare my twins (boy/girl) for P1 next year.

Currently, my girl is reading pretty well; she is reading independently on books that has 50-80 words per page. My boy is slower and very poor in phonics.

I’ve enrolled my boy to Kumon and I believe that it will help him. With the same workbook I can share with my girl too.

For Chinese, I have the Chinese flashcards which will help get them recognize more words.

Coming to maths… it’s the same issue with my oldest boy: They have problems doing word problems. I’ve played monopoly game with them and at the same time teaching them how to count money but I think more can be done.

I think the best approach for this is to use some games that allows the children to think algorithmically, or at least train their math thinking process.

        Is there such a game?

          Hi bigsnoopy,

I was heartache & angry when I heard about the naughty China girl bullying her and that P6 girl. Kept reminding daughter to stay away...as for the P6 girl bullying case, it happened right before the cctv in front of daughter's class. The P6 girl was caught on tv and punished in front of the school during assembly.
My daughter knows how to speak up, but I'm upset the girls now bully one another.
Hi Janet_lee88, shocked to hear about the bullying :hugs: , hope your DD is much better and the china girl stop with her acts

the school can't be giving so many chances to this china girl right..?

Fortunately she doesn't have any problems with the girl since school reopened. But I've been reminding her every now and then to speak up if anyone threatens or bullies her. She has to learn to do so.

Yes...every morning after kids go to school, I sit in front of the PC to surf Net, and also do some 'administrative stuff'.

All P5s have to attend the National Day rehearsal for few Sat...son's school will be on 16/7 and dinner is provided. The next thing which popped in my head is the HYGIENE and FOOD HANDLING of the caterer. Given the hot weather of late, I'm very worried about the dinner...whether it will be cooked too early and left in the open. Called up the school to voice my concern about this.

WOW! that is nice! I wished they had that when I was in P5.

Ya, the incident with Pat School House gives concern over the catering food... gosh, haha DDs will be going to the zoo on Friday. Food is also catered :xedfingers: nothing happens

I put all leftover food in fridge after kids have lunch...weather is simply too hot now. My biggest worry is the dinner provided to the teachers and students. With such a big group participating, caterers will cook early and if left in the open, that's how problems happen. :xedfingers: :xedfingers:

How about CCAs in P1. since it’s not compulsory, is it ok to do without it?

CCAs not compulsory at P1...until it is compulsory, then will let daughter take one. In son's school, CCA not compulsory so he doesn't take any.
