Hi, we went with CTC last year. Lodging all very good and food provided also not bad. Tour guide is a Korean, he speaks good Mandarin but funny English.

Did you go in Dec? Was it snowing?[/quote]Went in end Nov, we were very lucky to see real snow according to tour guide. Normally will only see fake snow in ski resorts in Nov - mid Dec. But snow fell on the 2nd day morning when we were at the ski resort. It was very beautiful!

Another option would be, to visit http://www.tripadvisor.com. You could find all your information of any countries in this forum. I personnally have benefited from this forum and have saved $$$$$$$$$ from DIY my own internary. I have never used a local travel agent to travel before, only to compare cost with my own iternary.

At times I have saved about close to thousand dollars by doing it myself, then going through a local travel agents.

This is a US site, please check if currency quoted is in USD or SGD. Current USD exchange rate is about 1.45. Also, take note taxes and such. Once I was doing a last minute rush booking via Expedia for a domestic flight within US and didn't think about the currency exchange, and was most embarassed when I told my collegue what a good deal it was and she asked me if it was in USD or SGD.... :oops:

Bee8250, I brought my 2 girls to Korea last year in Dec. They were aged 6+ and 1+ then. Went with a guided tour group but since we had 10+ ppl, it was customised for us.


My 6+ ger enjoyed the skiing so much that she didnt want to come back. But weather was indeed cold. We put on tshirt + 2 layers of thermal + wool sweater + down jacket for the kids. Urs in october maybe not that bad. Wonderful experience though, enjoy!

When booking a flight, its always cheaper to book on line with the respective airline, thus by passing the local travel agent. You will probably will get a good deal, the travel agents normally charges you a service fees. When coming to booking hotels (depend which country) you can book through wotif.com or asia .com. has for the trip advisor I only use it to plan my iternaries, and also to check which hotel is good to stay. I also compare prices by sending a e/mail directly to the hotel concern, and see which is cheaper.

At times the travel agent might tell you its high season, the rates are high and in actual fact it could be low season where you are travelling to. so its always good to do some research.

I find this is very good guide as to expected airfares and current promotions.

THEN, I go to the respective airlines (typically cheaper).

Tripadvisor is excellent on tips and information, as with virtualtourist.

For those who prefer to have a more flexible schedule when going Korea, you may want to buy a guidebook from Popular (also can borrow from the library but better to have a copy yourself) similar to the one below. From there, read to see about places to go and things to do. Then, ask travel agencies for a copies of their itinerary and from there, customise/modify the days yourself to suit your needs, pass it to the tour guide, and off you can go!


Different people have different thinking of how a tour should be. For me, I hate to rush and never have an intention to cover as many places within a short period of time (esp if I am traveling with younger children). So, usually my travel itinerary consists of fewer places and several free & easy days for me to do whatever I want or just to stay in my room not doing anything at all (and...I dont fancy visiting palaces, temples, etc, and following tours usually will bring me to such places which I find yawning...).
