      Hi everyone,

i have juz checked out CS Montessori at Nex. I muz say the person in charge, Daniel has left me wif a v gd impression.

The ctr is new & organised. The shelves had lots of montessori materials. It was an impromtu trip to Nex so by e time we were at e ctr, it was almost their closing time. Daniel was v patient and went thru each corner of e montessori materials & painstakingly explain 2 me of their uses. He could answer every question I pose & provide me wif more than enough info. Luv his sharing of having \"birthday walk\" for e kids at their ctr. It was not juz walking. E birthday kid will hold a globe to walk 1 round. By e time he/she finish walking one round, e teacher will tell them tis is how long it takes e earth to spin 1 round. I could nv have thot abt doing e explanation in tis fun manner.

There r lots of other stuff he shared. Even DH agreed tat e monte materials r gd stuff (have to let him have a feel mah, then he will b willing to part wif his $$$ , monte program not cheap mah :moneyflies: )

e more i read abt e monte curriculum, e materials, e more convince & impress IM . if anyone is interested in enrolling their kids in a monte program, i highly recommend to go down personally 2 c for yurself. e only concern i have now is e directress in e class. I guess it's juz yur luck ๐Ÿ™ on whether u get a gd directress or not. Anyway, I have sign up my DD2 4 e once a wk monte phonics prog and will most likely enrol my DS3 in their daily prog.

Their term fee for e daily prog is $1,500. So multiply by 4 terms in a yr, it's abt $6,000 per yr. Almost e same as childcare except it's not full day. Tat being said, u enjoy savings on $$$ as no further enrichment class will b required (if e child gets e full benefit fr a monte prog :dancing: ).

Will update in tis thread on my kids progress once ey started on e prog (at least aft 1 term).

Heyya cantbearit2, didn't read you for sometime already..

I suppose you have been busy. :snuggles: Nice review
shared up there babe. ๐Ÿ†’ Am also impressed you
could remember how our birthday walks are done.
Last time in our centre, we get the mom/dad/both
to do the bday walk together with the child. We'll
take videos and pictures for the family to keep 2!

We collect information of the special moments of
every yr (of the bday child's growth n development
to complete a brief history of the child. It's a slower
walk but a meaningful one. There were times I had
to conduct the birthday walk a few times when there
were a few bdays in one day. A wee bit giddy..
All the children will be really quiet as the ambience
gets really calm n cosy...listening to my story abt
their friend and how much they've achieved and
how much they've grown.. and how much they
have been loved..by the people around them.
Another colleague would be showing pictures of the
birthday child from birth to her current age now. It
is a hit with parents n children alike. Very special.

I read about the birthday walks. I think it is really meaningful and sweet too. Good for the kids to reflect, look back, and also understand how far in life he has journeyed. Nice. I have no kids in Montessori yet, so none of them have done the \"walk\". ๐Ÿ™‚

Hope dd gets to experience it in future...

This is wat ey do in CS montessori too. juz tat i leave out e details. tats y it's gd if we could make a trip down to see for ourselves & talk wif the person in charge. Of course, we shld read up a bit b4 we visit e ctr otherwise we will not noe wat Q to pose.

                      Hi mummiesโ€ฆ

I am new to this forum. Just to share my disgusted opinion on a Montessori school in Bishan. I shall not disclose the name of school.
( It has Montessori programme as well as before and after school care, in a bomb shelter)
I called to enquire for my eldest son ( 8yrs old) for their before after school care as well and my 2 other children ages 5 and 3 for their Montessori Programme.
The lady who answered the phone was so RUDE! this is what happened:
i called in the morning- the rude lady ( whom i realised is the principal!!) shouted loud and said that she is busy right now in a meeting! asked me to give my number, and i gave. Waited for 3hours,she didnt call me back. So i decided to call her again just in case she didnt get my number right,.
wow. here comes the shock- she again shouted so loud that i have to take the phone away from my ear. she said- hey, i told you right, i am in a meeting, i call you back! i was shockedโ€ฆ is this the way a principal talks??
Since she doesnt want my business, fine. i will not call her anymore! so angry!!
This centre is very near from my place, and since i have 4 children, i thought it would be easier for my helper to send my 3 kids to the school at one go. But i definitely will not sign up with them anymore,. so disgusted by her behaviour!!

I remember you mentioning the hospital visit in another thread. PM me how he's doing, if you don't mind sharing... :hugs: The Montessori Method in itself is impressive. I learnt so much more than what i learnt in mainstream training. I feel that i didn't get a chance to fully explore the depths of the methodology even till today. The memories i have of the joy i had teaching children using Montessori are priceless and ones i hold onto so dearly. The true memories of joyful teaching. The birthday walk also embeds the basic concept of the revolving of the Earth and how it takes one big turn to the point where the child grows another year older.. i was impressed myself when i first learnt how to conduct the walk. :please:

Correct. That is why i can never over-emphasize how important it is to do the ground work.. to read.. research.. visit.. talk to teachers.. sit in trial classes whenever possible.. and then can you feel the nature of the individual centres. Hearing abt it and reading abt it is not enuff.
                        cantbearit2:

Well now you are empowered, cantbearit2. :celebrate: Pats and LVs are strong in mainstream in their own way. I have iterated this before... each centre has its own merits to its programmes. They are special in their own way... it still boils down to a matter of preference and what you want for your child. Of course, budget plays a big part of that choice as well.
                        cantbearit2:

It's fine to still hear abt it. Mebbe she runs a different version we're used to doing? Learning is an endless journey, i am still learning everyday. :snuggles:

Talk to you again soon, cantbearit2. :imanisland:
