[Jurong West] Primary Schools
-
alng:
wah, i didn't receive any email from KSP abt updates for the Jurong West Pr sch thread and now I hv to catch up so many pgs!Rulang's P said that the reduction of one class was to plan for single session and ultimately all the schools should have about 240-270 vacancies. But that begs a question why they did not reduce the no of PVs. The current no is the same as the year before. So far from people I talk to, many will be trying for Frontier.
Rulang is meeting PVs from 1-2 km tomorrow morning. Think will be the similar message.
i just read till this page, and very  :scared: :yikes:
do u mean that all those PVs at the mtg at Rulang said they will try for Frontier? wah, now i starting to stress...
i don't like stress, always try and avoid, that's why for ds1 chose CPS and now Frontier for ds2, thought most likely sure get in.

it's clear cut.. tomorrow message is similar for those staying 1 to 2 km. They trying to pull students go Frontier new school. Who is the new P of Frontier - ex P or vice P from which school previously ? Let's hope that he can bring in the dynamic vision, relevant skillset and good leadership skills that Frontier needs.
先锋小学 sound like mad first, i don't like this chinese school name.
ya, my Dh also commented on the Chinese name when we first saw it at the launch. -
hi alng,
i can feel for you. you did all the PV hours, and now have to be on waitlist.
but take heart, because if you are high on the waitlist, the chance is still very high.
there may be alumni and others who get in the school in earlier phases and pull out later because they live too far away or something.
when we withdrew our ds1 from Pei Hwa, the General office staff and a teacher there commented that we just made a parent on the waitlist super happy. cos they’re gonna call the parent to offer them that vacancy then. that was in Oct the same yr of P1 reg, after Phase 3, so who knows, even before P1 starts for your son, you may get a call? -

There is no such rule.. I believe the GRL have also done their share for the community and hence given the choice to register at school of their choice in the area.. it is said that the hours clocked by GRL are more than that of PV even though their contribution may not benefit the school directly..mintpapa:
Doesn't mean that if you are a Grassroots leader (RC member) can have the right to sudden pop in and register without giving any notice to school.
GRL need to declare to school one year in advance in order to let the school to plan for the PVs intake.
I know all is stressed and some are understandably upset but let's not attack each other..
Rule can be changed, let me clarify this i have no intention to attack GRL or whoever in this forum, clear cut, my point of view is having GRL sudden pop out at P2B will give parents and school management a unforeseen surprise hence, and this will only jeopardise what the school had planned for PVs intake so I personally think that it more appropriate to ask GRL to inform their choice of school they intend to register in advance so at at least school can have some idea how many GRL and PVs going for P2B and from there they know what to do with the PVs intake. -

If this the case, those can't get into school because of this so they have to bear logistics burden to travel out of the school that near them and study at distant school. I have seen many of this happen and is getting worse.mintpapa:
I saw quite a number of Rulang students staying out of 1km from the school and their sibling still can entitled for Phase 1 and those former students taking advantage also while they staying more than 2km , don't you think that something is wrong in our system. I think our Ministry need to look into this matter seriously before matter get worse!
Phase 1 is for those whose siblings are still studying in the school. I feel that it is only fair to allow the younger siblings even those even staying > 1km to be be still entitled to this phase to ease logistics problem and have family support, no? -

In my own opinion - just my humble view - Singapore is not very big and Jurong West is definitely not too long from JW Ave 1 to JW Street 93..(Still JW anyway

)....so as I mentioned earlier, always have a back-up plan other than your choice of school and try work on the least travelling distance for a P1 kid.

I dun see wat is wrong with sibling in the same sch even if they stay more than 2 km.
Students or former students have all contribute to make wat the sch is today. For eg , student may have participate in fund raising for the sch or getting awards ( sports etc) n cultivate a high standard in a particular CCA which many parents would consider when registering their p1 kids.
前人种树, 后人乘凉. -

Scenario 1: if say 3 - 4 years ago (at that time you PVed and stay >2km but was lucky in balloting) your elder child entered Rulang. Next year your younger child is going for P1. Would you expect that your P1 will also be entering Rulang or do you think it is fair if the school now has a new rule that says since you are >2km, your younger child has to go elsewhere...
Scenario 2: your P6 child is a great achiever in Rulang and love the school to bits. He has won the school many medals. You managed to get him in by balloting within 1km many years back but due to planning for his secondary school, you have moved elsewhere and stay 1 - 2km away. Your younger child (going P1) wants to follow her brother's footstep. Would you not think it is fair that she gets into Rulang by Phase 1?
I'm not saying everyone falls in this category but I know of some in such case..
What do you think? -
Dear all,
Sorry have not followed the thread, but could feel that the atmosphere is not so good.
Wondering what is going on?
I need to get a fast info. about the status of Rulang Primary school.
What is the chance of P2C <1km?
Many thanks
