LOLMum:
So likely is the PR boys will have even higher chance they return back to their country so as not to serve NS, after enjoying better education! But Sporean boys have no choice at all unless their parents migrated out in time before serving NS.
Second Generation Permanent Residents are required to go through compulsory full-time military service as well as reservist duties after they have completed their full-time military service and turns operationally-ready.
They will also be granted Singaporean citizenship during their full-time national service. If the person decides not to take up citizenship after his full-time national service, he is still required to serve the service requirement, i.e. reservist duties after he turns operationally-ready.
Singapore Permanent Residents who served national service but did not acquire Singapore citizenship will be treated equally to those permanent residents without service obligation; they would not have access to the privileges granted to Singapore citizens. -
for top civil servants including ministers all they see are statistics and numbers… u think they will understand the situation on the ground ? even if there are 500 more P1 pupils next yr so long as the overall school vacancies is balanced out with an additional 500 seats to them there is no problem.
but for a parent who has to ballot and lost her vacancy an additional pupil is one too many. -
I’d like to think that if govt had been more successful in our population policy to raise childbirth then we wouldn’t be seeing so many foreigners granted PR and citizenship so quickly (refering to those granted in the last decade). Some people I know were granted citizenship just briefly after they landed on our shores.

hahaha...my dh also told me a couple days ago that our responsibilities are to highlight the problems and he will only think of solutions if he is paid $3 millions salary.
I'm no high paying civil servants, so I will leave the thinking to them. -

Yes of course I agree to that.

Ministers are paid millions to face angry residents who are against having launch shaft placed at the front of their condo...however, I wonder if these same residents will complain when their condo prices rise with MRT at the doorstep...
Newly minted ministers should be more upfront when handling problems faced by Singaporeans now...genuine ones like P1 registration. There are so many PRs here and some who become Singaporeans (I know of some couples that have either husband or wife converting) to enjoy Baby Bonus/4 months maternity leave. -

whereas many of our own senior citizens who paid taxes to contribute to Baby Bonus, scholarship, etc are left with trying to make ends meet by themselves...how ironic and cruel to our parents' generation who slogged in their younger days to make it a better place for other people's children. -
Do Ministers/MPs etc get priority in school registration? If so, which phase? Phase 2B? I can imagine that if they get priority registration they wouldn’t be keen to rock the boat. If they have to go through balloting you can be sure there’ll be some changes in policies.
-
even if given priority everyone will deny. no proof what....even if they didnt ask for it, the pp at the other end will definitely accommodate all the requests, maybe even also given all the good maids (or numerous exchange) without any fuss. but all these are hard to prove........

The Ministers should already be old boys and girls of elite schools. If they are not, they will have their connections. Even Zoe Tay can become PV of NYPS when NYPS rejects many PV applicants. -

Not necessarily old boys/girls of elite primary schools. They may have gone to RI or ACS in secondary school but it's your primary school that counts in registration.jtoh:
