[Bukit Timah] Primary Schools
-
Bukit Timah primary (BTPS) should be a good school, since itβs absorbing all the overflow cases of P2B and P2C from other good schools.
is there an open house coming for BTPS ? would be great for parents to go down, explore & take a look, talk to P and teachers ?
parents with kids currently studying in BTPS - can feedback what are some of the strengths of BTPS, or anything unique or unusual about this school ? -
phtthp:
Why would taking in the overflow from other schools make Bukit Timah primary a good school? Just because someone applies to a 'good' school doesn't mean that child will be a good student.Bukit Timah primary (BTPS) should be a good school, since it's absorbing all the overflow cases of P2B and P2C from other good schools.

My DD2 just got into PHPPS under Phase 1 :rahrah: I'm spared the ordeal a 2nd time! Just for curiosity, I looked at this year's statistics and indeed it's getting tougher, more so when schools go single session in the future. For eg, DD1 registered in 09 for PH and there was balloting for those who stay 1-2km from the school. And 2003 was supposed to be a lull in birth rates. But it seems that PH's balloting record proved to be steady and thus predictable. Good luck to those aiming for PH!
Looking back, P1 registration is only the beginning: just like scaling Mt. Everest, this phase is only base camp. You still have the mountain to conquer. Now our great challenge is to ensure that our girls do to the best of their abilities. So again, what's a true definition of a 'good school'? -

It is by far the most active thread under Parents' Networking

Thanks RRMummy! Haha, yup been to PH network site. it's been quite some time since I posted there or here! There is a reason why it is so active...
Registering DD1 was really harrowing 2 years ago, so I know what parents are going thru here! I realize for some, or most, it all boils down to this choice: ballot for 1st choice school or a confirmed space in 2nd choice school. For us, MGS was our 1st choice, but had to ballot for it. Ultimately, we opted for a confirmed space in PH. But one major setback is that we had to forfeit the sec school affiliation. It was a tough choice, but a good one. Who knows where we would have ended if we went ahead with the ballot? -
Buckbrick! So you're already one of them..
i kaypoh
Yes, yes, I heard that balloting is definitely not for the faint-hearted.
Many would be so glad to be in your shoes since both schools are HOT. From the little I gathered, PH is not exactly a 'poor' option Plan B.. minus the affliation of course...
The good ol' saying applies - A bird in Hand is Better Than 2 in Then Bush!
Here's to tough choices in life! :celebrate: -

Even there is no balloting, waiting for the results in phase 2C is no walk in the park. Kan cheong like mad! Anyway we discounted MGS long before that, and it proved to be the correct choice. -
