My girl is not that bright bright kind and I have heard alot of reviews abt PHPSS academic demands. So was :scratchhead: if I am sending her to failure? This is too much stress for me too cos I do not want to become a tiger mother  Maybe she will excel better in a standard school :rahrah:

Then you came to the right sch. PHPPS (not PHPSS) doesn't have CA/SA for P1 with only one SA2 at the tail end of P2, for the purpose of P3 streaming. If you're not too concerned about which P3 class your dd goes to, then she'll have 2 yrs of honeymoon. She's gonna love sch life.

Having said that, we know that overall PSLE std has been rising steadily over the yrs (that's why there was this petition thingy spearheaded by a mummy at the other thread). Most parents here do work closely with their kids in their educational journey.

But if you believe in letting nature take its course kind, we also have a club specially for that.

After reading those words which I've highlighted, I'm even more convinced Mark is the best person to be ambassador  , not just for P1 but for Pei Hwa (PHPPS).

It's very true that Pei Hwa is academic driven...since it's a SAP school. The good thing is parents learn what stress is at an early stage and how to cope with it...then with this experience, apply to younger kids when they go to P1. I'm no tiger mum but I believe in consistent revision from Day 1.

Some schools don't believe in 'hot-housing' till mid to upper primary levels. I don't like the idea of not having exams till end of P2 bcos some kids don't understand what it means to sit for an exam...they don't know they have to sit down to get the questions done without asking their partners...cannot talk during that period of time.

Hi, whether your dd is bright bright or not, that's not the point. Most importantly, you need to decide on a good school that will develop your dd holistically. PHPPS is a school that my dd1 enjoyed studying in. The kids are better disciplined. There are black sheep in every school but the black sheep in PHPPS are still pretty tamed. All the best for your registration next week. My dd is also a product of phase 2B. Her name was pulled out second last (slightly 'more heng' than sista Funx3's dd). Haha. πŸ˜‰

I think it's the sch that is heng to pull out your dd's name, not the other way round. Keke πŸ˜‚

              Janet,
Your arrow getting bigger and bigger leh. But I do agree with E3's comments above and can see that ds is truly enjoying sch life (no more cry baby); so much in fact that not for the first time, teacher complained to me personally that he doesn't pay attention in class. :faint:

Don't wait till Fri to find out. The suspense will be worse than the outcome. Last yr, I got my colleagues to take turns to ring the sch up a few times a day to get me the stats. Was afraid that the admin lady will recognise my voice and scold me.

But she was very kind and gave the breakdown over the phone. I wished PH can follow some of the other schs (like MGS) example and publish the stats at the sch's website rather than let anxious parents ring them all the time.
