All Correct. Gahmen help you choose if you still fail to secure a sch at 2CS. -

:snuggles: to you, based on historical stats, both these schools are really popular within the 1km range :faint:I am having what I term as double disappointments. I volunteered in Nanhua and Rulang but I am > 2 km for both schools. I do not even have a chance to ballot at both schools. This is really 人算不如天算!
I have secured a place at Jurong PS at phase 2A2. Should I consider Frontier PS at phase 2C? The things I like about Frontier, beside it being a new school, are the school hours, having the same FT for 2 years and nearer my home.
heard from another mummy that Jurong Primary is a popular and good school hence you would need to juggle if you prefer a tested school (need to sort out logistics) or a new school where your child be the pioneer batch but more convenient for you

I think you are staying around my area. I'm surprised that Rulang even take you as their PV when they should hv known that you are staying >2km away. When we called up previously to enquire abt PV at Rulang, we were already informed not to apply as we are >2km away.
Anyway, this is the risk we parents take if we insist that we want to PV for a popular school >2km away.
For your case, JPS is also a good sch with many years of history. If I were you, I will just stick to JPS. As for Frontier, it is a new school and everything is still not iron out. If you want your kid to be their guinea pig, then just risk it. But do bear in mind that a lot of the spillovers fr Phase 2B in the Jurong area will most likely be targetting this school in Phase 2C. Plus, you will be fighting for a space with more ppl in Phase 2C. So, think properly before you place your bet.
All the best to you. -

alng, you need to consider a school near your place, with good learning environment and whereby you have the greatest chance of getting in without much hassle. As the subsequent phase comes along, vacancies will be lesser and schools with good learning environment will get filled up and less chances. Choose what you think is strategically better for you - both in distance, environment and success rate.I am having what I term as double disappointments. Frankly, this is a lesson to be learnt for parents registering for PV. If the school is >2km away from your place, you should really check the yearly PV and grassroot intake to ensure your chances. It is a gamble, but if you are realy 2km away from most schools, there is really not much choice. Sometimes in such cases, it makes more sense to PV under a neighbourhood school (to ensure you definitely get a place in P2B and no further disappointment in P2C) than to PV under a popular school whereby you might not even get the ballot chance. -

Hi everyone
I am with u in this p1 reg journey! Will join 2c next week!
Alng, I emphatise with your "plight", looking at the bright side. You are more "enriched" with how different schools operate…
Abt JPS, I have relatives who sent their kids there, so far so good I heard. Comparing it to Frontier, it is a quite established school in the west. then again, Frontier being new, has potential to emerge " leader"… How’s your chance in Frontier? If you are within 1km (optimistically will go in) then it worth the risk of releasing your place at JPS. Just my 2 cents. -
Rulang and Nanhua’s statistics were never this bad in previous years. Nanhua ballot at > 2km last year with only 4 unsuccessful. Nanhua did not ballot at phase 2B the year b4. Rulang ballot at > 2 km for the last 2 years with 6 unsuccessful for last year and only 2 unsuccessful for the year b4. Based on past statistics, those who > 2km have high chances to enter but things change this year. This year will serve as a lesson for schools and parents. Schools will only accept less PV and PV at 1km only and parents will move nearer the hot schools. This is good news to those who stay near the hot schools :-).

When faced with a limited supply and overwhelming demand, no solution is going to satisfy everybody. I do not support overhauling the current system. Maybe a bit more tweaking should be done. I find it disconcerting that there appears to be a number of 'whiners' who berate the govt for lack of citizenship priority, having a screwed up scheme which skews towards alumni etc...i.e. anything that is not in their favour.
On the other hand, there are parents (and their parents) who have prepared for this even before their kids were born. They accept the system as it is, move house, become PV, grassroots leaders etc.
Do your homework, prepare and don't begrudge others who have that advantage over u. The ultimate responsibility for choosing where your child goes rests with the parents...not the govt, not the school, not your parents etc. Your best efforts to ensure that your child goes to the very best school that you are able to chiong for ensures that your child doesn't have to undergo the same pressures when they grow up...unless of course, they change the registration system.
