      Brenda10:

:hi5: That was the expereince that I gained during the learning of those \"unit transfer\" last year. It is very tough but I feel satisfactory once dd get faimilar and able to swim by herself.
      Hi Brenda,
      Thanks for the encouragement! :hi5:

DD1 once told me, \" Mummy, some of my classmates went for tuition so they already know how to solve those problem sums. Can you teach me based on your understanding and your method? I will check with teacher whether your method is correct!\" This sure gives me the confidence & motivation to learn! 😉 😉

        Hi there

I thought I would share my experiences of “cloze” work with my P3 DS.

He can do them quite easily in the EPH Books Challenging 4-in1 English and Complete Practice in Vocab, Grammar and Comprehension, as they contained easy questions with a list of answers to choose from. I then found that my DS could not do Comprehension Cloze.

We now the SAP Book, Conquer Cloze P3 and it is helping him greatly. There are 3 sections, Grammar Cloze, Vocab Cloze and Comprehension Cloze. Each section is split into Basic, Intermediate and Advanced parts.

Grammar Cloze and Vocab Cloze have a list of words. I hide these words (and it becomes a Comp Cloze) and therefore it encourages DS to think about the passage before inserting the right word. The fact that it starts from Basic level encourages him to comprehend the text.

He will attempt they Comprehension Cloze last, and I believe his approach to the Vocab and Grammar sections will set him in good stead.

I would thoroughly recommend this series of books.

I like the FAN learning Maths books. It has step by step answers. Realised most of the times, my child’s error is in the method (which costs marks).

I have to rewind 3 yrs back what I have provided for DD who is in P6 now.

Afew Math books for recommendation include Andrew Er, OnSponge and Li Fanglan.

For Sci, Sci Booster Vol A and B & Sci Practise ( By Marshall Cavendish ) and Science Process Skills ( By Casco ). For SA2, do not be surprised to see at least 1-2 qns from PSLE MCQ. DD had the PSLE MCQ set in P3.

For Eng, we bought more on Composition books - Write your way to an A* by SAP and good phrases from Mexxi 3.

Chinese, I outsourced to Berries at that point.
