I speak to my kid abt crushes etc.

To help him understand that his feelling for this girl may just be temporary.

I also used the analogy like that girl is like a young tree in the forest. Young tree will go through changes and she will grow into a mature tree.

So he may like this particular tree now but he may prefer another more mature tree as he grows up. And some trees you need to spend more time to take care of it. But some trees are very hardy.....

Guess wat? after hearing what i said my 'theory' on trees.
My son told me \"Mum, this tree that i m interested in is really not bad.\"

I think I will have more white hair soon!!!

        😓

            hi Herbie,

i have a 13 yr old DS like u. May I know how do you find out abt his BGR? Coz nowadays I find my DS doesn’t tell me everything anymore. He used to tell me everything under the sun but not anymore, he’ll choose to tell me only certain stuff.

There is no way to stop these distractions from coming their way. Only way is to build their character in knowing what they want to do best for themselves. No amount of external help can beat a child who has internalised all the rich values that he/she wants to carry in him/her as a guiding light in his/her life. .

                    Herbie:
If a 13 year old child is starting to go into BGR.

As parents, would you be supportive?
It would be a bit too young for BGR, but if child wants to go dating, it'd better to bring gf or bf back home, for us parents to know what is happening

                      HAhahahahahaha...
yah, don't discount the little girl, she might really be 'not bad'...

I guess the way the author of \"好妈妈胜过好老师\" (a popular book amgst ksp forummers) dealt with this, was to tell her kid that it's natural to be attracted to people, and for people to be attracted to you. But there is no need to commit to one so early...

this line of argument might or might not work... a lot also depends on the personality of your child. Perhaps most times it'll be a case of no choice but to let them go ahead and get their hearts broken a bit (after all we know that 99.9999% of these rlps that start before 18 don't last) then they'd hopefully be more careful before giving their hearts away again so soon the next time?
