PAPASAN:
Yes I read about the 10,000 hrs thing, think from Malcolm Gladwell's book. I hope I don't need 10,000 hrs to learn to be a pro-dad
To be a pro , u would need to clock a minimum of 10,000 man hours or an equivalent of 8 to 10 years .....
so if a child starts at 8 years old , he/she needs to train 6 hours /day , 7 times/week for the next 10 years , and hopefully by 18 years old , they would mature into a world class player .......

Any recommendation on good coach at Clementi Sports Stadium?

Ds also learnt table tennis with STTA at Toa Payoh for 3 mths but not much improvement because it is group and very crowded. So we engaged a coach for 1-to-1 training. She is good. Charges is $50 per session. Coach Ma: 83660666. She teaches at Bishan sports Hall and she is a school team coach. She also travels to my place.

I called STTA. The person answering the call mentioned “Learn-To-Play” (a 10 sessions programme). This programme does not seem like what was mentioned above? Could anyone share further details ... e.g., do they take in beginners? how long and how many training sessions a week? ... Thanks.ctct61t:
STTA zone centres: Bishan, Clementi, Tampines, Yishun sports hall only offer course who below age 7.
You have to drop by at one of the zone centre and talk to one of the coaches there (clementi currently is undergoing renovation). All centres take in as young as K1/2 up to P1, latest mid P2. After, there is 0% chance of getting in as some of the potential kids at P3 will be infused into the National Youth Squads.
The zone centres act as 'feeder scheme' for outstanding members to be infused into the National Youth Squads. Toa Payoh also provides enrichment training on weekends or school holidays. These programmes are different from the above.

Bring your child down during the training session and talk to one of the coaches there. Always quote \"Zone Training Centre\" when you make enquiry. This is a systematic programme that will train you child to be a better Table Tennis player, and if they are good will be promoted to youth development squad, youth team and finally national team. See \"Youth Development\" in STTA website.ganchiong:
