The problem for my estate is the schools are all fully filled, so if the government don't build any more school here, it will be a big problem down the road.

Maris Stella. Maris Stella is a sap sch and I believe a higher cop for psle. St Andrews is just average.

The vacancy goes to the Phase that is active at the point of withdrawal. So if the withdrawal takes place now, the vacancy goes to Phase 2C as Phase 2B has already concluded.

In answering some questions from parents, I realised that some parents are under the impression that schools that require balloting at more than 2km are easier to get in.


While this is true for parents staying within 2km, it is definitely not true for those involved in the balloting.

For example, if 100 people are vying for 50 places (ie. APP=200%), and if 45 are staying within 2km, then effectively we will have 55 people who stay beyond 2km balloting for 5 places, which means the odds are 1 in 11! Not good indeed.

On the other hand, if 55 of the 100 applicants are staying within 1km, then 45 applicants will automatically be unsuccessful, and the 55 applicants will ballot for the 50 places. So the odds are 1 in 1.1 which is quite good for those involved in the balloting.

For this reason, balloting for those at 1-2km or beyond 2km is usually a lot more competitive than balloting that happens for those within 1km.

Do keep this in mind if you are trying to go for a school that is more than 1km from your home.

Is your friend a Pv? If a vacancy surface After 2c, it is normally given to Pv. However, if happens during 2c, think it will be given to 2c.
